Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@Dimity I don't think you're doing a crappy job. And I'm very sorry the home help is so critical. She shouldn't be commentimg negatively on things that obviously she has no experience of!

I can empathise with putting off important tasks. Well done on tackling the IT issue - did you manage to resolve it?

I think my new routine is helping, although I haven't managed to go out to the library to work yet.

I enjoyed my work day yesterday. Today I'm just at home all day. At least it will be fine. I have a lot to do on the house - we'll have to see how much I get done.

@NatureLover I rang several places re the IT problem then found an answer online.

The home help does have a bit of empathy as she supports her brother who has some sort of problem. I guess she simply doesn't see much if any progress here, and that's understandable. I did very little again today, but I keep pushing, it's more than I was doing a fortnight ago.

I hope you were happy with your day.

I'll plug on tomorrow.

Well done on resolving your IT issue yourself, @Dimity .

Keeping pushing is admirable.

I had a quiet day where I didn't achieve much, although I did clear the floor of bags and did 2 laundry washes.

Today I want to see if I can tackle the long kitchen bench, which is almost full of stuff. Also go out for groceries (rhubarb and English muffins).

I think it will be fine today with rain later in the day. I hope you don't get wet if you go for a walk.

It's good you're keeping on top of the bags @NatureLover .

I'm not quite right. But I got some worrying paperwork done and found a problem I'll have to track down. I walked, no rain. Anxiety high.

Thanks, @Dimity .

I'm sorry you're so sad and anxious. Wishing for relief for you.

Well done on getting the paperwork done and for walking.

I packed up 2 boxes for the Opp Shop. The stuff was already there, I didn't sort out anything. Planning to take the boxes this morning - I hope they accept them. Then grocery shoping for muesli.

I hope you are OK today.

2 boxes worth of clearance is good @NatureLover - well done on taking them to the opp shop rather than the shed.

I'm floundering a bit.

Hi @Dimity , I didn't end up taking the 2 boxes to the Opp Shop or going grocery shopping. Instead, I went to visit a friend. I also did manage to tackle the long kitchen bench. I did over an hour's work and cleared quite a bit, but the bench is still full.

Today is a work day, and I might also pop to the library as 11 books are in transit for me!

The lawn is also full of leaves and due to be raked. I'm the only neighbour who rakes them sadly, but it will have to wait till Wednesday now as today is full.

I hope that when you wake up, the floundering feeling will have eased 🤞

The visit and bench sound positive @NatureLover even if they weren't your first intentions. I hope work and the library visit went well today.

I was harassed by a stranger while waiting for my minibus this morning. There's been a turf war over traffic and parking in the street.

I'm feeling unable to do much. But the state of the place is depressing. I guess that's a loop. And I'm apprehensive about some things coming up in the next week. Oh well.

Hi @Dimity , work went well.but was too busy for me to go to the library. I'll pick up the books today instead.

Am also going out for coffee, to the supermarket and for petrol.

That's not good you were harrassed yesterday! How upsetting 😥

How was your exercise class?

I hope that the things you're apprehensive about go better than you expect.

The exercise group went well thanks.

11 books should last a while.

I saw my gp today. I feel I wasted her time, although she was nice about it.

Hope tomorrow's a better day.
