Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Glad you found some rhubarb. I've never heard of putting cloves in it, but it sounds nice.

I'm pleased your craft group has split and that it went well yesterday.

My work day went well thanks. I also managed 2 laundry washes, as the clothes are taking longer to dry now.

Today is horribly gloomy outside, but I have lunch with a friend. It's 30 minutes' drive away though, so I have to psych up.

Good luck to us both today with our tasks.

@NatureLover I hope you enjoyed your lunch and the drive wasn't too off-putting.

I woke very late to lovely sunshine but it turned wet. I walked between rainshowers.

Horribly gloomy... sounds like my mood. Hope it's not your SAD.

Hello @Shaz51

@NatureLover today I've checked the contents of 11 boxes so I know what I'm dealing with. They fall into 6 categories. Some will be easier to deal with than others. I guess I'll try to filter through the contents (I don't like throwing things out unless I've checked each individually and mentally processed it).

Well done checking the 11 boxes, @Dimity !

I too have to mentally process each item, even a piece of paper, before I can dispose of it.

It sounds like you remained dry on your walk yesterday. I'm sorry about your depression though. 😥

The drive and the lunch went well yesterday and my mood was OK. Not sure yet what to do today.

Hopefully your depression eases a bit today 🤞

@NatureLover it was cool today. I hope you enjoyed the day. I had home help and did some chores but I must be avoiding facing the big life admin jobs that are needed.

I cleared a filing cabinet drawer and emptied a box of paper records into it. I'm running out of space in the hallway for empty boxes. I'll need them to bring back stuff from offsite but I don't want to do that without support. I guess I'm making some sort of progress. But there's sooooo much to do.

Are you still adding boxes to the shed or is that levelling off for you?

I cancelled my surgery today...

Here for you @Dimity . Open to hearing what is coming up for you if you wanted to talk about the surgery.

Hi @NatureLover too.

Well I won't have to worry about the surgery now having cancelled it @tyme . They said I can contact them further down the track if I need to.

I'm sitting on the sofa looking at 3 boxes stacked on the recliner. The joys (not) of churning stuff when you're a hoarder.

Hi @Dimity , I did enjoy the day yesterday thanks, just pottering about at home.

How was your home help yesterday? I hope she didn't make any judgemental comments.

You cleared a whole filing cabinet drawer?! That's huge! Well done 👏

I hope you feel better after cancelling your surgery?

I haven't added any boxes to the shed for most of a year.

A work day at home for me today. Have stopped doing laundry every day as the clothes aren't drying as quickly.

Well done on levelling off on the boxes @NatureLover .

Actually the helper was quite critical on my clutter/offsite storage/family situation but I'm trying. I know I'm doing a crappy job and doing it incredibly slowly but I'm trying. And I can't get any help with it.

I keep procrastinating on urgent and important tasks. This afternoon I grappled with an IT Issue and didn't get much else done. I'll have to make more effort.

I don't know how much I'll get done this weekend. Probably very little.

Is your routine helping? My drafted routine is buried somewhere in my clutter. I think going to bed earlier should be high on the list.
