Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hello @NatureLover

I hope the day ended up working out for you despite the difficult start. It's funny how we can be so ambivalent. Regretting loneliness but finding socialising takes effort.

My day was a bit difficult too, also with a very late start (much later than you). Working through different issues with family members and members of the owners corporation. And booking surgery. Meanwhile I didn't get to any chores. I'm way behind. And very stressed. My BP was extreme again. But I feel I've done my best under the circumstances. So I'm feeling a bit better (and I'm finally off the antibiotics).

Hopefully I can now move on from the last couple of weeks.

Are you working tomorrow? I guess I'll have exercise group as I forgot to cancel. I hope I wake early enough.

Onwards and upwards.

Oh no, @Dimity - you had another extreme blood pressure event? Did you go to Urgent Care? Do you have a blood pressure monitor at home?

I'm glad at least that you're feeling a bit better from your illness.

Is your surgery a month away like you expected?

My day did improve thanks, and I enjoyed lunch with my friend. We stayed at the cafe for 4 hours.

Today is a work day which I always enjoy. Even if I'm a bit depressed, it makes me feel useful.

Good luck with your exercise class.

Hi @NatureLover

It sounds as though you enjoyed your meal yesterday.

I have a BP monitor at home on the recommendation of a former GP. I didn't do anything about the high readings yesterday.

I'm feeling better and got more done today, but it was tiring. Surgery is in 5 weeks and will be pricey (it's private). I'm starting to doubt the need.

I'm going to have to face the clutter and my to-do list again, and try to make a difference. It hasn't really gotten worse since Easter, except that the garden needs a lot of work. I dealt with the kitchen backlog today.

Hopefully your work and a bit of sunshine will help mitigate your depression.

Well done on dealing with your kitchen backlog, @Dimity 🙂

I'm glad you have the BP monitor at home.

I had a good day at work yesterday. Today I have coffee out with 5 friends from my previous job. I'm enjoying the sunshiny days.

Are you starting to doubt the need for surgery due to the price? Or maybe the stress?

@NatureLover you're going out a lot these days... good to hear.

I'm doubting the op because of fearing the surgery and wondering about the medical need now, plus of course the cost. I really had a very bad time last year after my major surgery, it distressed both me and my family.

I'm not yet back on track but trying to get there. Small steps. I'm taking the probiotics.

Is it futile trying to declutter when I can't visualise the endpoint? Funnily enough I am slowly starting to imagine how it could be.

Hello @Dimity @NatureLover ,

It's been so god to catch up on the posts here. I hear there's so many unknowns up in the air.

@Dimity , sorry to hear about your health. If you don't need the surgery, maybe to speak to your team and see what they think?

Awww, we only have to encourage each other to do a little at a time when it comes to cleaning.

@NatureLover , I'm thinking of you too.

It's always nice to come here to connect with you both.

Hi @Dimity , it was actually hard to leave the house yesterday, and today I'm depressed again amd still in bed. I need to go out to the library and supermarket though this morning. That will be difficult.

No wonder you are stressed about your upcoming surgery. 🫂

I'm glad you're taking the probiotics. Also that you can maybe start to envision the end results of your decluttering. But no, it's not futile.

I need to struggle to get up shortly.

Wishing you the energy and motivation to do your necessary errands @NatureLover .

I know you're depressed but I hope you feel rested.

I need to face the day's activities too.

Let's see what we can do.

I got through more than 2 hours' housework and decluttering @NatureLover, plus shopped for groceries. Hope you did what you needed to do.
