Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover I didn't see this yesterday. Was offline most of the day. Checked my email for notifications but only supports so didn't come on. Just a crappy day for me. It stormed last night. Feeling a bit better today.

I use my own hand sanitizer as a rule but because everything felt extra gross I had used theirs too plus the spray on the handle of the trolley. I'm going to try to avoid Woolworths from now on. The more I expose myself the worse it will get.

My tooth pain has settled and I have stuff to do today and I'm planning to visit my daughter and granddaughter tomorrow so I'm going to put up with the busted tooth until next week. Some things are more important. 😂

Yeah.. I know.... health should come first but right now I need to do things that make me happy and the dentist does not make me happy.

How is that promite jar looking? Getting low yet?

@NatureLover Your intuition was correct. I wasn't up to doing much at all yesterday... my pain increases when a storm is on the way. Once the storm arrives it goes down again which is good. Couldn't make conversation if my life depended on it. I think I read your good morning post and then crashed. It was not a fun day. But it comes with the territory... so I should have been prepared and been reading the weather more diligently.

How are you today? How's that nbn shaping up?

Good morning @Escaped_Goat , I was happy to see your messages! I'm sorry to hear you had such a crappy day and that the weather has such a big impact on your pain levels. 😥 I'm glad you have Poppy to keep you company - she wouldn't need any conversation.

That's good your tooth pain has settled, at least. Especially as you have a big day tomorrow!

I understand about the sanitiser.

Haha, I finished the jar of Promite and have started on a new jar. I had just fruit for dinner last night though to make up for all the toast.

The NBN technician is coming this afternoon. I got up late today as the day ahead looked bleak so I went back to sleep. I need to clear up a bit for the technician later. And take a walk while it's not raining.

I'm relieved your pain levels aren't as bad today...hope you can have a good or at least OK day.

@NatureLover Poppy is quite happy to stay cuddled in bed all day in chilly weather so that's a bonus.

Today is looking okay so far. I've had banana bread for breakfast but I had 2 slices and feel waaaaay too full and a bit sick now. It will pass. I should have just had one but I feel like I should be eating more than I do but now I probably won't have lunch because I'm so full.

Yesterday I had coffee and a banana. The day before I had coffee, banana bread and a banana.

Oh gosh, you don't eat much, @Escaped_Goat . Is that normal or is it just when the pain's extra bad? I know you don't usually eat breakfast anyway... And I guess banana bread is pretty dense.

At least you'll be rolling in potassium! (I think that's what's in bananas?)

It turns out I have to go out today again, to return some library books. I haven't read them as I've been doing the forums instead lately. There are no overdue fines and I don't think anyone has reserved these particular books, but I got an email saying they hadn't been renewed. I can get some more bread while I'm out. And maybe bananas, lol. I've stopped making my own bread for the moment as it's so crumbly after the first day and breaks when you put it in the toaster.

@NatureLover unfortunately that's pretty normal eating habits for me. Some days I will eat something more substantial and for several days in a row but I find it hard to keep up the good habits lately. Generally it's one meal a day and some fruit or juice.

You're the opposite of a food addict, @Escaped_Goat !

At least your food bills would be much less than mine. 🙂

@NatureLover I do enjoy the taste of food.. just no appetite. I'm going to be one of these oldies they need to supplement ☹️

That would be frustrating.

We are at 2 extremes regarding food!

I'm getting pretty nervous about having the technician in my house, touching things... I generally meet friends out in a cafe, not at home, for this reason too. They are used to me luckily.

I'm happy you're online today, partly as it's nice chatting, but mostly as it means you're feeling better than you were yesterday, I hope...

@NatureLover I'm definitely feeling better today.

I have made another pinafore dress and I think I have mastered the dreaded buttonhole!

I understand how you feel about having the technician in your home. I don't like strangers in my home at all and I'm even uncomfortable about friends since having someone who was supposed to be my best friend over. I was so excited to show my tiny home to her but I felt so judged and I would never dream of commenting on her personal space like that because it's not my business how she lives. I'm only comfortable with my kids and granddaughter in my space now. My therapist said I take everything too personally but when it's about your personal space or your body it is kind of personal.
You tell me if this is offensive... I used to weigh a lot because of the medications I was on and being unable to exercise and eating carbs. After losing a bit I met my friend for coffee and she couldn't stop laughing and I asked why she had the giggles and she said "the loose skin on my arms... she said she'd rather stay fat than have loose skin."

I was doing something for my health with the help of my doctor and instead of saying well done or anything else she giggled her way through coffee at my skin being loose and declared fat was preferable. That hurt.

off track as usual 😂
