Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

You tell me if this is offensive... I used to weigh a lot because of the medications I was on and being unable to exercise and eating carbs. After losing a bit I met my friend for coffee and she couldn't stop laughing and I asked why she had the giggles and she said "the loose skin on my arms... she said she'd rather stay fat than have loose skin."

I was doing something for my health with the help of my doctor and instead of saying well done or anything else she giggled her way through coffee at my skin being loose and declared fat was preferable. That hurt.

That is indeed hurtful, @Escaped_Goat . And I'm sorry to hear about your supposed best friend (a different friend?) commenting on your house. I think you can rightly be proud of your tiny house, as you created it all yourself.

Well done on mastering buttonholes and making another pinafore, something I couldn't do if you paid me! So glad you're having a better day.

The technician has been here for an hour and a half and still no NBN. I'm getting worried he won't be able to fix it, but if he can't, who can? He isn't touching too many things (germs), but I'll still have to do some sanitising after he goes.

@NatureLover it was the same friend. No longer a friend obviously.

I'm glad the nbn guy isn't touching much but hoping he fixes it soon and gets the heck outta there!

We have not see much sun here today.. just cloudy. Have you seen the sun?

It's been a stressful afternoon. The NBN technician stayed for nearly 3 1/2 hours on what was "the worst job he's ever been on". But the poor bloke remained pleasant and in the end got the job done, thankfully. I have internet!

There's a lot I need to sanitise including my breadmaker and blender and fruit bowl...but it will have to wait for tomorrow as I can't cope with that tonight.

Yes, we had a bit of sun this afternoon but I didn't get time to walk. Hope we each get some sun tomorrow.

I hope your afternoon has gone well? @Escaped_Goat

@NatureLover Yay for internet! At least the sanitising is limited to a few items and one area not all over the house.

I'm eating porridge but I'd rather go to bed. I'll have to wait a bit now or it will not be a pleasant night.

Early start tomorrow to go visit my daughter and granddaughter. I'll lay out my clothes tonight so all I need to do is get up and sort Poppy out.. wash and dress myself.. go to the petrol station for petrol and coffee and be on my way!

Thanks @Escaped_Goat , and you're right, the sanitising is just in one corner of the house thank goodness.

Porridge is nice and healthy...did you add a banana? 😄

I hope you have a really lovely day tomorrow with your daughter and granddaughter.

😂 😂 @NatureLover I did add a banana!

I hope you get some sunshine tomorrow so you can get outside between sanitising!

Haha, you sound like me with my food obsessions! Either that or it's just because bananas are nice and easy... 😄

Thanks, a nice dose of cleansing sunshine would be ideal when sanitising.

I hope you can sleep well tonight. I won't expect you around much tomorrow as you'll be off enjoying yourself 🙂

Hi @Escaped_Goat , double posting. I hope you're having a lovely time today!

I'm not coping well today with the house contamination. Haven't been able to face it yet. I was getting distressed so I had to go and lie down. Thankfully the toaster and kettle are in a different part of the kitchen so I can eat. No sun today which makes things harder too. I did manage to go out to the post office which I needed to do today.

I hope if you go into any shops or cafes that people are physical distancing...also that you won't be in too much pain after being seated in the car for the long trip.

@NatureLover bananas are cheap at the moment and easy to eat when I don't feel like eating.

I had a pretty average night.. woke a lot. I'm considering getting an extra mattress topper but it's an expense if it doesn't help. The ones at Aldi aren't too expensive but they aren't cheap either. I have a pillow top mattress but it's a fixed pillow top. I'm imagining something that can be fluffed up more cloud like... that's not too much to ask.. right?

@NatureLover Oh dear... I'm sorry you had a bad day. Tomorrow we will get the gloves on and tackle that corner and you'll feel much better. Maybe the sun will cooperate too! At least you got the post office trip done so ✔️

I had a lovely day... lots of granddaughter cuddles and play. She's trying sooo hard to say grandma! 😁 We went to ikea and it was a bit busy but we were amused by the little one leading us in all the mini home setups... she seemed puzzled and entertained by all the bathrooms and bedrooms. We had to play in each of the kids bedrooms. She made herself at home in those. It was fun seeing the place through her eyes. Then we got some lunch and went back to their place to eat and play some more. When it was time to go she took off with my bag then got the grumps and refused to say bye.
