Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover Grocery shopping blues! I hear ya!

If you spread the rice out on a cookie sheet to cool then cool some more in the fridge it will dry out better and almost be the same as day old rice. 🙂

Hope the shopping isn't too stressful and a walk later cheers you up.

Just got back from the shops and a nice sunny walk. I got the evaporated milk and I bought some more sultanas, but for the self-raising flour, can I add baking powder to plain flour? You said I need 1 1/4 cups of self-raising flour, so how much baking powder would I need?

Thanks for the tip about the rice. I'd better start boiling it after this.

Have you had your 2 cups of 5-strength caffeine?. @Escaped_Goat

Hi @NatureLover and others here, interesting thread. I took a break due to bullying so I'm just seeing this now, I hope you don't mind me randomly coming here and commenting.

I suppose I would be a germophobe in a way, in the sense that I wash my hands a lot, but I'm not sure if that would count for me, but interesting question

Hi @Former-Member , welcome to the thread! I'm very pleased to meet another germophobe. I'd say washing your hands a lot counts! Do you find your hands get very dry and cracked with all the washing? I do.

I'm sorry to hear about the bullying, that sucks.

Thank you. Yes they can get like that, I even get Eczema on my hands too. If you get Eczema or something similar, I'd recommend Moogoo, E45, QV, stuff like that. None of it's scented and can help, or there's some handmade stuff out there from small businesses (can't remember the names currently).

A good handwash that gets rid of germs (you wash this one off) is Dettol Parents Approved, it doesn't irritate my skin at all and made my Eczema go away completely, and the itchiness.

For a hand sanitiser you don't need to wash off I'd recommend Aquim and Eucyl (Eucyl smells of Eucalyptus & moisturises hands too). They all get rid of 99.99% of germs.

Hope that helps. @NatureLover

@NatureLover For 1 cup add 2 teaspoons baking powder sooooo for 1 1/4 cups ummm... 1 & 1/2 teaspoons

I have only made it with the sweetened condensed because I can so let me know how it goes with the evaporated milk... I might do it that way in future if it works well... I'm sure I don't need all the extra sugar. I did give most of it to my son and he devoured it in one evening 😂

I had my coffees and I actually had breakfast. Porridge. Needed something warm inside.

@Former-Member Welcome! As you can see we go off topic a bit but feel free to pull us back on topic anytime you need a bit of support regarding germs.

Thank you @Escaped_Goat , I've been on these forums for a few months or so but I left for a few months too due to bullying. It's still awkward, traumatic and triggering for me but I thought I'd come back, so hopefully everything's good for me and everyone else

@Former-Member I hear you. Sorry to hear that happened to you. 😕 Bullying is awful but you're safe amongst us germaphobes. 🙃

Thank you, I appreciate that, the same goes for you and everyone else here. I hope to talk to you, @NatureLover and the others in this thread (if anyone's still around) some more, and new people xx @Escaped_Goat
