Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Bullying is awful but you're safe amongst us germaphobes. 🙃

@Former-Member Yes, I echo this! We're only tough on germs, lol. 😄

Thanks for the recommendations...I'm not good with putting creams on. But yes, please feel free to talk about germs any time.

Porridge sounds healthy @Escaped_Goat . I'm a little confused about your baking powder measurements...can you run them by me again? You said "For 1 cup add 2 teaspoons baking powder sooooo for 1 1/4 cups ummm... 1 & 1/2 teaspoons." They seems at odds...but then again, maths was never my strong suit ! And I thought I had got it right when buying the evaporated milk...I couldn't make one with sweetened condensed anyway. Oh well, I will make it and see! Probably this afternoon once I (or you) get the measurements straight in my head. 😄

I made a small serve of fried rice for lunch as I was in the mood to do all the chopping up of vegetables etc. So now I have more rice and little bowls of pre-sauteed vegetables all ready to put together for the next day or two. Chores aren't looking very likely - I think I'll take the healthy lunch with lots of veggies as a win and just throw out my 1 item and spend the rest of the day in the sun if possible. How is your day shaping up?

Oops @NatureLover that should be 2 & 1/2 ! Good thing one of us is alert!

@NatureLover I did my sewing. Made a cheese toastie for lunch. Trying to find something to watch on Netflix. Will walk after that. Then I just need to fill up the evening.

i think you've done well today. Shopping day is always a bit mentally exhausting so it's okay to give yourself a break on other things that day.

@Escaped_Goat the sultana slice is in the oven! Thanks for the measurements. And thanks for your encouragement on my day. 🙂 I went and lay in the sun for over an hour with a book.

Well done on doing your sewing. I hope you've been feeling OK.

@NatureLover Sounds like you did what you needed to today! I can't wait to see how the sultana slice turns out! What was the batter like going in? Thick.. thin?

I have to admit I'm struggling a bit but not falling apart. Yet.

Yes, I can believe you might be struggling @Escaped_Goat . 😞 Please have a virtual hug...no germs.

I wasn't sure how thick to make the batter so I made it fairly sticky and a little bit runny. I hope that's right... I haven't had much luck with baking in my life before, but that can change, right?

Did you find something to watch to distract you on Netflix?

Thanks for the hug @NatureLover 🤗

The batter sounds about right and you know what... regardless if it turns out perfect or not it will be tasty I'm sure.

I always told my kids you can only learn baking by trying and you can always throw some custard on it 😂

I watched a stupid zombie movie. At least it didn't make me cry. Everything that sounded decent I was sure would make me cry... I'm too soft. 😂

I understand about the decent movies possibly making you cry.

The slice isn't ready yet (after 25 minutes) so I probably made the batter too thin. That's OK, you're right, it will still taste nice once it's done. I will probably end up eating it for dinner after all 😄

My nice clean kitchen is now a mess and I have no idea how all the little bowls of veggies are going to fit in my small fridge.

I think it's really nice how we can share our days. Living alone, you don't have many people to tell the little daily things to. I appreciate you. @Escaped_Goat

@NatureLover Thank you ☺️ I appreciate you too. It's funny how it's the little daily things that make a difference. Not just the successes but the failures too. Just having someone that understands and can laugh with you or offer a shoulder or challenge you to get chores done or sit in the sun if that's what you need.

i guess tomorrow is kitchen day but now you need to brush up on your Tetris skills and get those veggies in the fridge.

Drat, I overcooked the slice! The top was nice and pale golden but the edges and bottom are too brown. Not burnt, just dry. It's yummy though. Thank you for the recipe.

Yes 🙂

I've squeezed all the bowls into the fridge. I'm going to go and lie down now. I hope your evening is not too bleak @Escaped_Goat and that you are OK.
