Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@NatureLover How's that bread? I just had my leftover eggy veggie thing from the other night. Memes to discuss in therapy just posted something that made me laugh... a colour chart thing. I'm yallow all the way. 😂

I sometimes wonder what people who have never needed therapy think of these memes... they make me laugh so hard most days.

Hi @Escaped_Goat , I saw that meme and yes I am yallow too. My bread was so delicious that that's all I ate for lunch - hot bread and butter. 😄 Is your eggy vegetable thing finished now? I've got one serve of my macaroni cheese left.

Oh my gosh and I thought I had a lot of tablets 😮

That's good you didn't have to give Poppy a bath.

I've been lying down this afternoon. I've done one thing off my list, and next is a walk. After that my 2 items to throw out...getting hard.

I hope your day is going well...

@NatureLover nothing quite beats hot bread and butter! Or margarine in my case. 😂 Eggy thing all gone.. I try not to make massive serves of anything because I don't like eating the same thing every day for a week.

Are you running out of things to throw out?

My day has been a bit of a mixed bag. Parts have been okay and other parts well... I cried a little bit. Just a little though. I was able to pull my socks up before I ended up in a puddle.

@Escaped_Goat I'm glad you didn't end up in a puddle. How are you feeling tonight? Not our best time of day, the evening, I know...

Haha! I have a big pile in the house still, plus three smaller piles of papers...there is way too much stuff yet to throw out. I've done the easier items and now comes the harder items.

Sensible to make smaller portions - I still fall into that trap a bit, of making too much.

I'm off to bed soon...hope you sleep well if possible. 🙂

@NatureLover not the best time of day. May isn't great.. at least this week this year. My friends birthday tomorrow.. my daughters ISO birthday Thursday... ISO Mother's Day coming up...

Mother's Day is a mixed bag for me... if it's not a fun day it ends up with me remembering how awful my mother was. It's hard for a lot of people I imagine. For various reasons.

I just have to be strong this week.

Bedtime for me too but only because it's too damn cold to stay up! There is no warmth hanging around once the sun goes... it's so funny in summer the heat won't go away even after the sun has been down for hours but as soon as autumn hits the sun acts like a light bulb instead.

Sorry, @Escaped_Goat , I fell asleep on the bed with all the lights on last night. Woke up at 2am but too late to reply.

Very sorry to hear this week is not good for you. And isolation wouldn't help. Bit worried about you today, with your friend's birthday...are you OK?

@NatureLover I'm okay so far. I sent him birthday wishes. I don't know if he is reading his emails and maybe just not ready to talk or if he's avoiding emails.
It's a complicated situation and not one I want to open up about on these forums after what happened on my original post. I've had damp eyes but not broken down so far.

No need to apologise for falling asleep. I wouldn't have seen your reply as I fell asleep pretty soon after that myself. I feel like full on hibernation for humans wouldn't be such a bad thing. 😂

@Escaped_Goat I agree about the hibernation! Thanks for not minding about me falling asleep.

I'm glad you're OK so far...I think it's OK too if you have a puddle. I am here if you need, and I understand completely you not wanting to discuss it. I am hoping that when he's ready he will see and reply to your emails.

Do you have any plans for today, or is just a 'survival' day today?

@NatureLover I have plans to walk when it warms up a bit out there. I have plans to do some sewing later when my hands defrost. I need to find my gloves.. there are only three places they could be so that shouldn't be hard but the cold was almost painful this morning.

What are your plans today and how are you feeling?

@Escaped_Goat walking sounds good when warmer. Good luck finding your gloves before your hands drop off!

I'm not feeling very bright this morning but it's nothing serious. We will have sunshine for 3 days now so that should be making me happy...a walk later will help. The first job is to go grocery shopping though so am just psyching myself up to go out. Then cook up some rice and cool it for fried rice later today. I've heard you should leave the rice till the next day for better fried rice, but I only thought about it this morning.

Hope you enjoy your sunny walk.
