Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@Escaped_Goat I think your kitchen is cute and bright, I like it! Sounds like you've done well today. I did a bit of tidying in the kitchen and had another walk, then suddenly felt exhausted and spent the rest of the afternoon lying down. Thank you for helping me to get done what I did, I appreciate it. 🙂

I'm going back to lie down now with a book. I hope your evening goes OK and you can keep warm.

@NatureLover Thank you for encouraging me to get started. I wouldn't have done it without you. Have a good night... keep warm!

I think it's good we can encourage each other with chores and other things, @Escaped_Goat 🙂

I had a good night but am not quite sure how I feel yet this morning. Have had breakfast and need to make bread and do the washing up today...not sure what else yet.

Are you on your first coffee as you read this? 😄

@NatureLover First coffee.. how did you guess?

Yes.. I think we all need encouragement.

I slept reasonably well but I'm not sure how I feel yet either.

The vacuum cleaner is charged so I can vacuum today. I need to clip Poppy's nails.

I can't see rain forecast so... dare I say it? Walks all week?

Haha, yes - I hope so!

How many coffees does it take you to feel like yourself in the morning?

I hope that clipping Poppy's nails is fairly easy...

*Edited as I forgot to tag you @Escaped_Goat

@NatureLover I'm a creature of habit.. two black coffees to feel human.

Poppy is fairly patient when it comes to nail clipping. I won't say she enjoys it but she allows me to do it without trouble.

I think it's walk o'clock... the sun has come out from behind the clouds and I'm all caffeinated up.

Great, you've got sun! Enjoy your walk!

Yes, Poppy sounds easy-going as you mentioned before...that's lucky for the nail clipping.

I'm already having a better day, as the bread (white with flaxseeds) is half done and the washing up is also done. I wanted to do them today, which I didn't yesterday. I've also made a fresh To Do list for today and put priorities on it. I also have to confess I didn't get rid of an item yesterday, so that's 2 needed for today.

From the way you were talking I imagined maybe 12 coffees @Escaped_Goat ...lol 😄

@NatureLover Back from my walk... glad I rugged up a little even though I was too warm when the sun was out.. I was chilly when it went behind the clouds again. It played hide and seek the entire 20 minutes. Poppy is flat on the floor.. I think we walked too far for her today. As soon as we came inside the gate she laid down... in the mud. :face_with_rolling_eyes: Might have to find a shorter route for her walks now.

I'm glad you're having a better day. You deserve one. I hope this is the start of a better week!

I have to admit that the coffee I use is extremely strong... it has the caffeine of 5 standard coffees so your guess was pretty close! I pretty much run entirely on caffeine and anxiety most days.

Once again I've left it too late for breakfast. I think I'm going to write a to-do list and then have something for lunch. I did remember to take all my meds and supplements this morning though so that's good. I put the supplements into one of those pill things last night because if I have to open a bunch of containers in the morning I will often skip them but tipping them all out at once makes it easier. Now I just need to remember to do that every week. 😂

Thank you, you're sweet 🙂 @Escaped_Goat

Oh no that Poppy lay down in the mud! Does that mean you need to give her a bath?

OMG, 5 standard coffees in one cup...I can't imagine how strong that must be 😮 That would send me into next week!

I put all my tablets and vitamins each day into one big screw-top container, then I take them out of that. I remembered to put the Vit D tablet in there this morning. I have a lot of tablets so I tend to take them throughout the day. It's if I haven't done that that I run into trouble, trying to take 7 or more tablets all at night...too much, and I sometimes miss my Diabetes tablets then. But never my psych meds as I would be a mess without them, plus I take them in the morning anyway. Well done for taking all yours this morning...

My bread is nearly ready!

@NatureLover I gave her a wipe down. Fortunately she hasn't a lot of fur on her undercarriage. It's a little cold for a bath for her I think.

I have morning tablets and nighttime tablets. 4 meds plus 4 supplements in the morning. 5 meds and 2 supplements at night. Can't you hear me rattling from there? 😂

I used to have to take more before my surgery so it's nice not to be on so many. :face_with_rolling_eyes:
