Numb again

Numb again

I have tried contacting online support but everything is unavailable or offline .

I was raped 7 years ago and things happen so I made myself numb and supprised everything. I learned about the breathing techniques as well as the 5,4,3,2,1 tool. Tonight it's not working . I am having flash backs like crazy and I can't get my mind and body to calm down to relax and sleep . At this stage I am in for a night of night terrors and I can't do that again tonight. I am shutting down again but not sure how to stop it .

@Zoe7

I am in the corner and it's Lovley . I can't help but wonder why I didn't know about this before . I am not sure how effective sleep will be tonight as cold normally means pain. I remember the last time I was this cold every thing hurt all over again. And I think I told you the whole thing so you can fill in that blank

Re: Numb again

Yes I certainly can fill in the blanks @Pollyotter and that is incredibly hard. Can you warm yourself up - another blanket or a hot drink - anything to help with the outside temperature of your body ...that inside feeling of colsd is much harder to get rid of but if you are warm on the outside it can help a little with the inside. I do know that feeling of cold though Hon and the memories associated with it ...you are safe now in your little corner though - keep telling yourself that. Imagine me sitting there with you - and your dogs snuggled in (I'll bring Toby as well because he is a real snuggler) - and we can all sit in a safe space together.

I have some Bronville ( hotchocolate) and marshmallows going. The amount of sugar In this should be illigal.

I have this odd need to be hugged and held by someone but I can't be touched at this state of mind or I'll loose my mind .

Gosh that dose sound so nice just being with the dogs and yourself not being effected by anything outside the corner

Re: Numb again

That is really tough @Pollyotter - needing so much to be hugged and to be told everything will be alright and that someone is there with you but that overwhelming feeling of sickness and disgust if you are actually touched It really is a horrible place to be and makes one feel very much they they are all alone You are not alone tonight though Hon - it may not be in a physical sense but knowing you are chatting to someone that gets it always made me feel a little more connected. Do you have a pillow or soft toy that you can hug - my psych gave me a teddy bear that I used to hug in sessions and then brought home - it really helped me to have something I could hang onto and curl up with.

@Zoe7

I will have to go and buy a soft toy . My pillows are sad and limp after All the squishing.
You have made me feel cared for Zoe like I can't even wrap my head around it .

Re: Numb again

You are cared for Hon and I appreciate that our connection here has made you feel that way @Pollyotter It really does make such a difference when we can connect with someone that 'gets it'. You are not alone on the forum and it is wonderful that you are here - despite what brought you here! Job number 1 is to find a snuggly teddy or soft toy that you can hug. It really has made a difference for me in the past having that something to hold and hug. Tobes sleeps next to me but he spreads himself out - we have snuggle time for a while then when he has had enough he moves onto his pillow and goes to sleep ...teddy filled tht gap for me between being alone and not wanting to be touched and finding comfort in something I could hold. Any ide on what kind of soft toy you will get?
