World caves in

World caves in

i sit alone in painful times as I seem to in all times, I sit and look upon the world and wonder why..........why.........why is it the world is driven by narcacissm, hubris and the ever increasing need for instant self gratification, a world of beauty transformed into a gamorrean garden of visceral excess. All depth left for dead, love sits forgotten weeping tears of diamonds as the world is consumed by cheap lust, when did we stop caring when did people just become things to be used and thrown into the mud as they move to the next and the next and the next. Why is it so quiet now, why is it so empty, why is it so cold. When did it become stupid to have morality and standards and self control, when did love become a word to be thrown around as just some empty sentiment, when did sorry lose meaning, when did words become just words.

he sits upon the earth frozen to the touch but warm deep within, he looks upon the people and weeps that they shall never see or feel what real love is, he dreams of things that will never be because the world grows dark around him, his heart so big it was thought unbreakable people had cut it, times had aged it, people had crushed it beneath heavy boots, but he stood back up again and again denying the fall he could see, but then he saw what we had become, what everything was, is and shall be, and his mighty heart broke in two, now he sits invisible to all holding within his hands the pieces of a once great and beautiful heart.

Re: World caves in

I am feeling sad about the news ... just every day some tragedy ... not quite war but so many deaths. At least Melbourne did turn out a bit for Black lives matter ... and did it without vio lence.

Re: World caves in

Black lives matter is a nice concept but there is many more complexities to it that do not get addressed. And foremost is that people no matter their cultural history must stop believing that they are somehow superiour and accept that we are all the same, we have been historically wronged no matter what our heritage. What We must try to do is be protective of ourselves, now I don't no all the details around these deaths and I think very few really do and that does need addressing too

Re: World caves in

Ok so my previous metaphor was not appropriate fair enough I guess, though I must say the references may have been dark, it was merely metaphor rather than reality

Re: World caves in

I was just responding to the sadness about the state of the world, I am finally up to date with the news. There have been many times in my life when I was totally out of that loop.

I think your writing and metaphors are incredibly evocative ... I am not the right person to ask about what is appropriate or not .. I dont have an instinct for it ...

Sometimes things are dark and I dont think it helps to pretend they are not.

Yet to go too far down that road isnt helpful.

The little story well the few paragraphs I wrote whether read or unread, were speaking of a man broken within yet still refused to bend or break to the will of the masses refused to give up what made him him, I understand why it was seen as inappropriate yet when words flow from my fingers I cannot censor them, these are things from my heart and mind that are rarely seen and never spoken, which there was an inference in the story too, but if it was felt to be to dark, to risky to morbid, to triggering, I can understand that.

Good morning @Redraw

As an artist of words, you have autonomy over what you choose to portray, and as with visual art, it won't appeal to everybody, and for some it will be too confrontational for a variety of reasons.

But as an artist, you have the choice to seek more positive, uplifting expression as well, if you can find it within yourself to do so .... or at least to temper the darker nature of some of your pieces ahead of posting them ....

I find focusing on the beauty of nature as a starting point for positivity. When I was a child, cleaning a head of lettuce one day, I realised that the heart of the lettuce was not just a clump of stem as I had expected .... the lettuce leaves wrapped around themselves in a miniature form of perfection .... smaller and smaller as tiny replications of the larger outer leaves of the lettuce .... until they were almost too tiny to even identify ....

Something else I love is going to othe zoo, and seeing teeny-tiny tortoises, the size of a ping-pong ball, as perfect miniatures of the giant ones, right down to their toenails ... the food they are given to eat looks like the scraps in the kitchen sink strainer left from washing out an "empty" bowl of coleslaw .... a few little scraps of carrot grating and those teeny tiny lettuce leaves, and it's enough to keep this ping-pong scrap of tortoise alive and functioning ..... amazing !!

I see a man - walled in by what seemed to be glass - wearing himself out trying to escape from the environment within to the world he could see without

Time past and his battle seemed worthless - but the yearning inside him grew stronger until one day he used all his strength and burst out from the shell that had constrained him

And it seemed as if the wall was made of crystal - and as it shattered the light caught the prismatic fragments and rainbows lit the new world outside

For all the time he had struggled he had learned about the will within to find his own way and each chip of the fractured sphere was a lesson - something he had gained all the time he had been his own prisoner

With compliments

Decadian

Faith while I understand what you say about the positive over the negative, but that limits my expression of what is within, it's like how I wear my mask in my everyday life whilst I am in agony inside with no outlet no one to listen though I likely wouldn't say much, I can write all manner of things but speaking I don't wish to burden anyone, not that that's an issue as people look on me as nothing if they look on me at all, maybe I am ugly, maybe I am boring, maybe I think to much of people, maybe I want to much, maybe if I was shallow and arrogant and convinced of my own superiourority, and cared only about my own self gratification. Maybe then the world would make sense, maybe then I wouldn't care about being used, maybe then I would be happy. That's as maybe but were that the case I would no longer be me, I may have my shortcomings, I may not have any confidence I may have no self esteem but I am not worthless and I have and do deserve better

Re: World caves in

There are some positives in there, definitely @Redraw, and just recognising that you have value and are not worthless sounds like a good start to building self esteem ....

By the same token, I also believe in acknowledging how we feel, and how we respond to what is going on in the world around us, and it's not all positive .... it's not all sunshine and roses ..... but it's not entirely doom and gloom either ....

If you need to connect with things that don't feel good about your life, and your inner world, that is important, and your powerful writing certainly gets it out there .... and there is integrity in that .... but to dwell only on negative things can keep you trapped in a dark place ....

There is a balance to keep .... but I think the more you write and share, the more that balance will start to establish itself .... because truth has a dynamic and integrity of its own to contribute to the equation ....

Write away @Redraw .... you have a gift for translating great emotion into word pictures .... and the forums are for self-expression amongst their other purposes ....

Have you seen the "Writing as a form of therapy" thread ? It may interest you to read poetry written by others on the forum .... it's not all "pretty", but it is pretty expressive !!

I am over being threated like, well I would say like s*** they stepped in but at least if they stepped in s*** they would care enough to clean it off I don't even rank that, no I'm a f***ing joke, I wonder how many of them friends, relatives or the very very very very few ok two that were once more if only for a moment, still laugh at the pathetic loser who no matter how much s*** they threw at him would still be there if they ever needed for any reason even if that reason was of significant risk to me I would help, haha f***ing ha, but that's ok cause I am nothing to them or anyone.......... Who cares no one would notice nobody ever looked at me twice anyway I was never more than a convenience, but they can laugh at me its nothing new, I have been through it all of my 36 years.

perhaps I fail to find to much positive because all I have known is, pain, degradation, humiliation and abuse, I am so tired of fighting this unending fight, I am so tired of fighting with no one to hold no one to stand by my side, just nothing.
