Taking charge of my well being!

Taking charge of my well being!

Hello All,

I decided today not to go to hospital. I have a new psychiatrist, meeting a new social worker next week and I have another lovely social worker who meets with me, as well as a great GP who is always there for me.

I decided today that it is time to take charge of my well being myself. So as I am exploring new ideas I will keep a little diary here and perhaps it is useful for some other people that are struggling along the way.

I really want to look at the good sides of my life history. I have a lot of trauma to go through, but I don't want to forget the good times. So I made a random selection of photos of my husband. I want to make a scrap book and capture the love and the memories. In the book 8 Steps to Trauma Recovery there is a section about start with the end, or something like that. I made it through the trauma and I want to celebrate that I made it and capture the good times while I am feeling better. Over time I want to add my kids, my friends, my family, my uni years, my school years... whatever, one at a time, savouring the good times...

I know that just because I feel well today, tomorrow is another day. But it is ok, I will work on my ideas when I can. When I feel I can.

Big hugs to all x

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Yes, I think you are correct @utopia
The sooner one gets help, the better.

My first trauma happened in childhood and unfortunately I didn't know to get help until I was in my late 20's. If I had of known that I could help sooner, I think it could probably have prevented some of the other traumas from occurring, as I probably would have stopped being a victim earlier.
Sexual assault/abuse was kept very quiet back then. It was too shameful to talk about. Thankfully people now speak up.

Can't change the past, but now I can change my future. 😊

Oh, it's fine that you join in the chat, utopia. 😊

I hope that you are ok @Former-Member 🌷🌸🌹🌻🌼🌺

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

@Former-Member. I'm hopeful that children or adults currently suffering abuse - can reach out now & get the proper help they need.
No. It's never too late to seek help. I'm 46 & have finally started my healing process.
I hope you have a great day today.

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

I just feel like a broken record, over and over again and I cannot even be bothered to talk about it anymore. Just tired and sick of myself.

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Double negatives equal a positive?

I don't deserve to live because I'm not grateful for what I have = I deserve to live because I'm grateful for what I have?

Need some down time, been too busy, getting confused.

Hi @Former-Member Just read your messages. I'm sick of not feeling well to, just saying, I understand.

Hugs to you. xo

You mentioned that you have been busy. What have you been up to lately?

Hi @Former-Member

Been on the go, all the time, surrounded by people all the time. Just so tired of it. How about you?

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Sorry @Former-Member I had to go and wash hubby"s car, it was getting dark.

I haven't been doing too good, but I am determined that this will pass, thanks for asking.

Lack of energy and motivation etc. Hard to get on top of depression and anxiety. I really shouldn't have anything to complain about, but feeling low all the time isn't nice.

You sound like you like to be on your own a bit, I'm like that. Dealing with people is hard when you don't have energy..

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

I can relate to how you said that you can't be bothered talking about it anymore. That's how I feel. Too frustrating to talk about it. I try to distract myself. xo

I hope that you are ok, sorry I had to go off. I can't stand looking at a dirty car and I knew that hubby wouldn't have time in the following week, too much work.
