Re: Sleeping too much
Wow @Former-Member .... that's a mess ..... you did so well to navigate it, hurdled the trigger (massive!!) and took yourself into a coffee time-out to regroup ....
So, so, so well done .... ❣
You're in the wringer there my girl ....
Can you ask the doc about respite support systems - make him aware that you're dad need support at home, you have two brothers with mi who are causing major issues, you have your own mi struggle in the background, so there is only so long you can glue this together. An intervention is required before he goes from one patient to five within the day ....
Keep taking breaks @Former-Member. You will need that .... there will likely be a delayed emotional kick-back once the immediacy of this situation has passed.
Hugs n hugs ....
Make sure you take care of YOU as a priority ....

Wow @Former-Member, there is so much going on for you! I can imagine you are feeling really worried about your mum and family, and experiencing unhelpful pressure from your brother, as well as distress due to the hospital bringing back memories. You seem to handing a very difficult situation amazingly well.
I'm glad you have taken a moment for you, well done.
We are here for you too ![]()

Re: Sleeping too much
I am glad you managed the coffee @Former-Member So many different hugely triggering situations.
So maybe you knew deep down it was VERY important to do this trip and do it properly. Stay as long as you have to .. to be square with yourself.
I actually could relate to the waaamabulance, did not mean to make out it was sinful, still think it was probably necessary & good boundary setting. Your brothers will have to face up to losing the support of their ageing of both their parents. You dont have to fill in any gaps for them. Pity when the ambulance were needed it got complicated, but glad your mum is finally where she needs to be.
I am pretty frustrated with your brothers too. They are giant little kids. My parents were not like that. They tried to face their responsibilities as well as they could, even though it wasnt enough. They did not use MH as an excuse. I think it is reasonable to "name the game" from time to time. Its your judgement call. Frustration is not necessarily sin. Its difficult & sad and protect yourself.
Walking and posting with you.
You have been an angel of mercy.

Re: Sleeping too much
It is difficult when your mother's capacity comes & goes .. pretty bloomin frustrating .. I guess I was lucky that my mother decided early to go into palliative care. It could have been much more difficult if I had to do a lot of the practical work.
You dont have to be the nurse for your family or your parents. It is enough to be one of their children and a sister. There is a kind of pre-grieving in dealing with all this.
In the old days there was more care in home by family. These days more people are taking the supports that are around. Some people are stubborn or worried about losing thier privacy. I hope they come around. As the nurse you are you can help guide them in decision making but you shouldnt have to do it all.
I am glad your mum gave you the necklace .. its a token of her love .. between all the spits & spats .. if you stay a few more days ... claim plenty of time-out for you.
