Re: Sleeping too much
Hello @Shaz51
Sounds like a very busy weekend and which can be good at times (keep us rolling on). When anxiety is high I dont do well in crowds and shopping centres etc either. Hope Monday treats you well 🙂

Re: Sleeping too much
Hi @PeppiPatty
Thank you for your reply and sounds like we do have some similarities in feelings and thoughts around our mothers. Yes I have voiced it out loud and its a tricky relationship at best for many but more so when there has been negelct and abuse (early on). I agree, I am working on different feelings and thoughts around my mum especially when we are able to have glimpses of connection and seeing her vulnerability. I do feel good that I do what I do physically for her (I like to help, it just feels good) and more so as there is a genunie need. I probably will still be marrying up the feelings and thoughts for quite some time as I cut a lot of everything off to raise my daugther and hardly saw her for 20 years. Thanks for your input @PeppiPatty🙂

Hi @PurpleFlowers
Yes - you had to do your best for your daughter for 20 years - that's the correct order of things - and it seems that as hard as it is to help your mother out you do - for the best part - find it the right thing and it's okay most of the time. Those barriers must be working for you
Hi @Shaz51 -
I understand that after a busy weekend your hubby is tired - but what about you? How are you feeling?

Re: Sleeping too much
Hi @PurpleFlowers & @Decadian
Good to see you chatting.
I have just been to Centrelink with my son and then off for a Christmas party with a group I have been entitled to join for years. I have never met them yet, just the social worker who organises it, but it has taken this long for me to get. its a nice short drive in the country so should be good and yum lunch in a pub. Its related to people who have been in care .. so I know they will have issues and I wont have to pretend.
@Former-Member Thinking of you lots
and @PeppiPatty and @faithandhope and the people in general on here.
Cheers Apple

Re: Sleeping too much
HI @Appleblossom
Thanks - and I wish you the best with the group and the people you will be meeting for the first time
Yes - it will be easier for you not having to pretend - all these people have been in care and have issues
Having been in care why would they not have issues
Have the best day possible

Re: Sleeping too much
Hi @Faith-and-Hope
I am trying to imagine what it's like having Christmas at 0 degrees - fridge door open - oh golly- when I travel to Britain I am going during our winter - what a good idea to be overseas then
Anyway - am I allowed to be horrified that your MIL actually travelled with you on your overseas holiday? - Now I was never friends with my MIL - let's not go into that - it's and old old story- but I can't quite imagine that - any more than I can imagine travelling with my dd and her family
I guess I am used to travelling alone - right now I am planning my trip to Hobart - I have rellies there - I have driven all over Tassie alone - now I stick to small cities when I travel and walk a lot and get lost and need to get a taxi back to my base-
But it seems to be working out except for your anniversary and presents of souvenires - oh dear - I guess you don't have to buy any souvenires to give to other people when you get back
Apart from the cold weather it seems to be pretty interesting though

Re: Sleeping too much
Hii @PeppiPatty
I know you haven't forgotten - we all have this mother-thing - or most of us do
I know my mother was not always horrible - there were times when she was kind - but more often she was really hard to love - somehow I managed to love her in spite of her cutting tongue
She had a rotten childhood - and having two children only a year apart must have been too much for her - and although I can see the reasons for her behaviour they are not excuses -
Voicing it - and having contacts here who have been through the rough stuff is a relief and makes the whole story endurable - we can't change the past but I guess we can be the better person in the story
