Re: Sleeping too much
Weather is roughly the same here at the mo @Former-Member .... but heading to colder parts tomorrow as the weather starts to turn seriously Winter-wise.
@Former-Member .... it's probably a combination of all those things, and moderation is a key ....
Okay, I'm off walking now ....

Re: Sleeping too much
To tell the truth @Former-Member I had avoided anything that might make me feel ok including nature for the past few months except my potted flowers which i tend to almost daily. That has been my saving grace I guess. Yesterday though I watched the Rainbow Lorikeets feed on the locuts in my back yard. Maybe I'm getting there slowly

Re: Sleeping too much
You know, its tempting to think ringing lifelong last night is a setback for you, and may have even 'felt' bad at the time - but check out the 'flipside' Teej, you took a step to help yourself get through and now today your saying you feel pretty good compared to before. Maybe it was building up, and at the 11th hr (not knowing and feeling like the end), you found a way to break through and here you are talking, not so withdrawn. I have missed you you know. Especially now F&H is otherwise occupied. Blackdog tries to convince me that ya all sick of me when ya go quiet, I push him aside but and evidence to the contrary reemerges. Oh dear, am I rambling?
I hear you though, how you have aoided anything that might make me feel ok - for months. I go there too, a lot. Why do you think we do that? Maybe because we believe we're unworthy deep down? That's a belief you and o can work on together to change. Best time of year for it, weatherwise. When we start letting it in, we stop starving our soul and also we become able to give.
So glad you have your potted flowers as a daily thing (sometimes i get trapped behind the window & just look out, for weeks, but not for a long time now). Seeing you tend your flower pots with a smile, grateful to have them, this will be my image of uou from now on, and its a powerful on gill of light and hope. Your saving grace, your gift and reward from nature. Gratitude fuels joy. And keep looking and listening for the birds. I'm enjoying the butterflies at the moment - amazing!
Gosh I really need to get up and do something, move lol
Lovely chatting with you Teej, hugz xox

If you have those books and like them .. go for it @Former-Member
My insights come from older way, books and therapies ..
I have just caught up with the rest of the world in the last 4 years online etc ... mostly due to being broke and frugal a very long time and fully securing a home base for child/ren .. over other more transient things. They had access online .. but I waited a while til I could afford it for me.
during those years .. I had a friend who was heavily into humour, comics, cartoons, etc .. and i slowly learned to laugh... but for a very long time I could not. In my last phone chat with my brother in Germany .. he really noticed how I could actually laugh a lot more in conversation now than I ever could when he first rejoined the family which was just after the first suicide and my marriage. The tragic irony is that he is now also in pain and possibly dying.
I almost believed I could not laugh like other people .. not because I was morally opposed to fun (which I think he believed) but my sibs and I had not known fun, but my sense of self has now enlargened to include humour and good fun ,,, even if it is weird and idiosyncratic.
My daughter has just admitted she stops people on the street to admire babies .. and asks how did that happen .
The timing that is right for you ... will emerge and show itself to you.
The reason why shutting off negative emotions is a problem .. is that it blocks access to the positive ones, joy, pleasure and compassion for others.
The moral dilemnas become how we negotiate our feelings and how and why we make our choices, but everything is NOT in our control ...
..

Re: Sleeping too much
I'm really pleased for you that you've developed a sense of humour @Appleblossom. I don't think it matters what type of humour you have as long as you can laugh at some things. I probably developed mine in that it pleased others that I laughed at them, and as a child I laughed a lot with no real sense of humour probably just pleasing others. My third son had an innate sense of humour. At a young age he would find slapstick humour hilarious even though he couldn't understand the language, it was the body gestures and timing he got.
I'm working on emerging again but its not a smooth transition.
I admire your complete strength and resilience in raising your kids in such difficult times. That part I have been blessed with and for that matter so have my kids.
Keep on keeping on @Appleblossom ![]()

Re: Sleeping too much
Hi @Former-Member
How did your doctor's appointment go? Gosh! your back sounds very painful, are you ok now, after taking something for the pain?
Good you had a nice morning with the ladies today and was able to get to the shops to buy a present for your son. You must be very proud of him getting a new job and car.
Don't worry, I feel like I should get a life too, lol. I'm really not achieving much at all lately. You seem to be achieving more than me, doing gardening, renovations, getting out with the ladies group etc.
I've been feeling flat all day, but, oh well, tomorrow is another day.
My girl has exams on this week, then holidays. Having her home every day will get me out and about more. She likes to go somewhere every day, so I guess I'll be busy then. I can rest when she's out with friends.
Hi @Faith-and-Hope and everyone. ![]()
