Re: Sleeping too much
Hi @Former-Member
I am sorry you are in so much pain - I know how that can drag you down - and I hope that the doctor gave you something useful for it
I actually go to a pain clinic - and I think I have been lucky with that - have you thought about a pain clinic?
They do vary though - but it could be worth having an opinion on that
And congrats to your son on getting his licence - good news

Hi @Shaz51
It's a good idea to get onto a waiting list for a pain clinic and the appts are like gold
I have been so lucky with certain things in my life - perhaps the other side of the hard stuff I have had - but I was in agony and got referred to a pain clinic for people 55+ when I was only 54 and I didn't have to wait.
I was seeing a pain specialist in the private system before that - it has been free for me to see the pain specialist I have been seeing for nearly 20 years and she can authorise my very powerful medication which I could not have without her recommendation - she has been cutting my medication down for years but I guess the main medication I am taking I will be on for the rest of my life
I had an MRI last year - I think my GP was concerned writing all the medication even though my pain specialist had applied for my permit - so I paid for the MRI myself and my spine is a mess that can't have surgery.
I am well cared for and monitored - as I said - I have been very lucky with the people I have in my team
About your pain - and the referred aches that can be just as bad - I am skepical when doctors say you are not that bad - you know if you are - and you need to get onto a list.
I would imagine the heatlh problems you have would be very draining - and one kidney coping with your retained iron - oh my.
But I am thinking of getting on of those blenders that chops up all the fibre in vegetables -

@Former-Member, you sound like a bit of an EEYORE (Pooh donkey) like me too, dysthymia depression, flat mood all the time. So hard. Have to work at finding Joy, like poor @Former-Member is working on. Good time with your daughter goes well, make the lost of it - its so hard when they go their way and leave us with empty nest. Then again some people celebrate it lol
Am having sleep studies tonight - feel like a cyborg with all these leads on tonight. Probably negative too. I'm getting cynical.
@Appleblossom, are you OK? are we good? Hope you have a good week, sounds like you're putting some of things on place.
Sorry, can't think much tonight.

Really sorry you are struggling with pain and your physical health @Former-Member. It really doesn't seem fair. I think it would make my mental health much worse but you seem to be fairing ok struggling through this at the moment which I'm in awe of. I would have been shouting and whinging from the tallest building if it was me. I know I've put on weight in the past couple of months and it's starting to tell as I'm getting hip pain. Maybe your magic soup is the way to go. The medication that has helped me the most lately is an antipsychotic which puts weight on so it's a bit catch 22. We'll have to spur each other on to look after ourselves and lose a bit of weight. I've just given up chocolate again for now which is my start. I hope you sleep and tomorrow sees you having less pain. Take care

@Shaz51, some bodies age faster than others, your cleaning job wouldn't hwlp, nursing my day we did all the lifting, apparently my degenerative spine is akin to a 70yo I was told last CT, what can one do? We can sympathise with each other 🙂

Youngest baby dragon was breathing fire at me over the weekend @Former-Member as I stood my ground and did the good parent thing and said he couldn't go out until his assignment was finished and then I'd drive him. Worst mum in the world attitude came. Me....I felt like I was back a bit being his mum again. The others are all ok, still a lot of working out how to live together but things are ok for now. I think I've mostly chilled a bit apart from my major over reactions and crisis in between. Life, I've come to realise will never be smooth when I'm so reactive to everything. Just aiming for two good days in a row for now. 💜🤗

@Former-Member I am OK and I sure hope WE are good. I am fond of you as you are in some ways the person I have met who has had the closest similarity to my battles with MH in the family .. and struggles to give kids a good life despite it.
Congrats on son and car.![]()

Bummer about back.
Dont take it personally when I go quiet or just do my responding to new new people thing but not respond to all posts. I guess I have this woman with a mission thing, and see my time on this forum as MH activism and not just about "catching up", but I also like the feeling of finally have a social group where I can be real and share my good and down times.
I was feeling a bit paranoid about choir, but had a big good event on Sunday, and trying to regulate my silly social fears.
I have had to take stock after the event a month ago. I spent a lot of time researching psychs.
I also like watching others get more confident and posting more. I was a watcher on the margins a lot when growing up. Its okay its still a part of me.
At choir I dont have to always talk to people to feel fond of them. We dont have to be sooper dooper close, to have genuine "fellowship". Mostly I go with "pulling my weight" in the musical endeavour. if enough people talk to me in a friendly way I am ok. Also realising that I was pretty hard to take for a while, as pain would unexpectedly burst out of me and embarrass people ( and me) but I was in a position I could not back out or run away or move on. Now all the scandals about the sex abuse in the church is being processed somewhat, they are not as defensive about it, "their sacred church" and being warmer .. and more understanding towards me. I had to give them space and sing in a secular choir for a while, but I have links that go back a while in this church, so dont want to burn bridges. Yes its the people but also the philosophy and the music for me.
My son is back and in busking mode.. is also helping around the house and doing a little job everyday.
It makes such a difference to both the load of running a household and just the cheery vibe of getting on with it, without resistance.
YOU have a life @Former-Member and have achieved much and been stoic and compassionate and thoughtful. Your simple request when you said "dont go" meant a huge amount to me.
