Re: Sleeping too much
sorry you arent doing well either @Former-Member
but you did make me laugh about gardening at night.
I dont do it now as my garden is established but about 10 years ago ... i would be in bed and get ideas about dividing and re planting things (always frugal) and resisted actually acting on it cos it seemed too weird even for me .... til I started thinking bugger it ... and would jump out any time of night and do a few things maybe just 15 mins .. eventually my place and the court and the verges and the council bits are all garden ... little bit by bit.
Yes it takes a while to actually get to know someone.
I used to be envious of nurses when I first started parenting as they at least understood the body ... I was on a steep learning curve with babies ... but was pleased the 3 kids never had any broken bones ... the only issue my D2 had her elbow twisted out of joint ... as hub was taking her away from me when I had bad sciatica.
I am like you in that my D2 is a quality human being ... she also had heaps more actual pain to deal with in growing up than D1 ... D2 is good at her job at uni ... has a big work ethic and sense of social justice ... she has just wiped me ... which hurt like hell for 10 years .. but I can still be proud of her in my own heart... and she is very like me ... so maybe its like with magnetism ... 2 likes repel and opposites attract .. I am not taking it was an indication that I am bad any more ... but it was tough for a long time ... but my D2 has guts determination brilliance good taste etc .. she is not a posy rosy ... I got in trouble giving her makeup for one present .. I thought I had robbed her of her girly aspect so tried to compensate ... but it was not really my fault ... it was just that both my girls kind of polarised against each other .. it was partly their own dynamic ... I tried to give matching presents some years .. same but different and all that, but D1 had an extra set of relations and therefore an extra set of presents. All my family included her .. but her family did not include my kids ... it was always uneven ...
I found @Decadian discussion re spine relevant to me ...
In my panic I thought I had lost a day ...but its masseur and Osteo tomorrow. I have been sleeping and feeling better for it.
Hope you are all doing as well as possible (AWAP) in body and mind

Re: Sleeping too much
Hi @Appleblossom
I have found through years of trying different treatment apart from medication - and at the bottom line - if something is a good experience - it is more likely to work - if it's not a good experience - it is not as likely to work - so
I did not find accupuncture at all helpful - but accupressure is - and I practise that a lot
And I went to a school for masseurs - I did a year's professional training - and found relaxation massage to be excellent - but this was when I practised with other students - I had a masseur come to my home for a decent stretch of time and the woman developed an abrasive attitude and I no long wanted this - but I have ways of massaging myself - and I found ways to do this
But I have tried nearly everything as well as medication - I meditiate - whatever that means - but I clear my mind and concentrate on whatever thoughts seem to be interesting and follow that - and for me - that works well
But there are other things - I don't think I should mention what didn't work for me - but rather what did - and I think that having a good doctor who cares a lot about me is probably the most important thing - he sees how much pain I am in when I go to see him - and this guy is really great
I have only been his regular patient for 18 months - my old GP retired - rather devastating that my mother died just after that - that put me through a bad time
So psychotherapy worked well - and I have completed my work with this - I will always suffer about my son but it doesn't bother me much - and I can't change the other people - esp as one of them is dead - and that was really hard because I never had a good relationship with her
However - this afternoon I mentioned the new Royal Commission to my doctor saying I felt as if I could suffer a set-back if I got involved - and his comment is that I am too fragile - and I have already spent a long period in my life working for these Stolen people - and I didn't outright ask his opinion - he gave it - and I am sorry but it is something I can't do - not without putting my health at risk -
But I am stilll interested - so anything you have to say - or if there is something I could add in writing that might help is something I could do without opening my old wounds -
So please keep me in touch - I have strong feelings for our badly-treated Indigneous people - after all - we as a nation have stolen their land - their culture and most of all - their children - and I am ver angry about that
Thanks for your efforts @Appleblossom - my keeping out of this Royal Commission has been a tough decision -
Decadian

Re: Sleeping too much
@Appleblossom, thanks, humour hides a lot, at least we know we're not alone.
@Former-Member, @Decadian, nice to awe you. And thanks.
@Appleblossom, how was spinach pie?
Just had a memory of ambos coming to help me when I fell asleep talking to lifeline after an od. Maybe secretly wishing to be rescued tonight. Not gonna happen hey? They save you but that's all they have resources for. Sad
