Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member, well done getting 'real' with your counsellor. I'm so relieved for you that she backed off the pressure a little and understood. It was sad to hear you say (see type post...), "I currently have such little self respect because of it. And my kids resent being poor while their friends are wealthier..." The list goes on. We just have to not compare and be our own best friend. But I know it must be so hard with young adults expecting so much from you. Those put downs from pivotal people are so hard. I'm glad I don't live with that. But we also muan't keep echoing it to ourselves. Kinda sadistic when ya think about it - the way we can beat up on ourselves 😕
While I appreciate your compliments, please don't put me on a pedistil because I struggle. Even today I spent most the day sleeping, and you guys are my only contact. Having said that I did now the lawn yesterday.

Its 4.44pm here & I'm waiting for Dr to have MH CP review & blood results re low iron /HB/Ferritin. Ops there she is

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi again @Former-Member

I'm glad to hear your appointment went well today. Thank goodness you have someone that is decent and caring towards you- that is truly amazing. I hear what you are saying and I understand what you are saying probably more then you perhaps realize. I am here for you with no judgement at all and thankyou for clearing things up, I didn't know you were in panic last night but perhaps I should have realized- its hard to gauge were people are at through a computer screen. I think my energy levels have picked up today and I am just in the middle of cooking Kira some dinner and waiting for my parents to phone me back.

Re: Sleeping too much

Thanks for the support @Former-Member. Sometimes it's not just on the computer screen that it's hard to pick. I don't seem to show too much even when in total distress in real life either. It helps to know you understand too.

Im glad you've picked up a bit too. 💜🤗

Hi @Former-Member. I'm sure im not the only one who has thought that lots of your achievements this year are worthy of a pedal stool. I hope doc went well. My son mowed my lawn yesterday. I had hoped to do a few things this afternoon but feel wrecked after today's session which went for the best part of two hours. Let's hope we both have a productive day tomorrow. 💜🤗

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member

Lunch out was nice yesterday .... but after organising it as an early Christmas catch-up cos we are going to be away, I was the only one who brought presents ..... my SIL's both said that I was so organised, but they weren't really geared up for Christmas yet, and they would see us before we leave, right .... ? 😳

It's not that I was wanting gifts, it's just that organising lunch out for Christmas was supposed to be a gift-exchange as it has been other years ... we go away more than they do, but in the years that we have stayed in town and they have been away, the going out for lunch before they left was for this reason. They decided they weren't doing it that way this year without saying anything .... :face_with_rolling_eyes:

WH was pragmatic ... just said, oh well .... you got your commitment met, so don't worry about it ....

He's right, in that if they do want to give us gifts in return, they will have to try to fit in with what we are doing between now and when we leave, and it won't have the spirit of being CHristmas-sy, cos that was yesterday, with going out and all .... 🎄

Each to their own .... I enjoyed it for what it was, as did our kids, and my nieces and nephews have something under the tree for them for Christmas Day .... ✅

Christmas for us is a "for others" event. We fast (biblical fasting - vegan plus shellfish) in the lead-up and giving charitably to others in need is part of that, rather than feasting and partying .... that comes in the weeks after Christmas and New Year .... so preparing for Christmas and going away now is in a spirit of Lent. Whike I can't give financially to you in this moment in your struggles guys, I do believe in paying forward .... giving what you can when you can, in time, thought and deed .... and that what goes around comes around. 💞

Will be thinking of you @Former-Member through the difficulty of approaching the unpacking and grieving over your old home. "Holding you in the light" as @Former-Member puts it is a Christian saying, but moreso it is a Christian mind-set (albeit not exclusively), and I will be holding you in the light too .... ❤️💕💐

Re: Sleeping too much

Oh wow @Faith-and-Hope extended families are a whole new challenge by the sounds of things. It would have thrown me too as it would have changed the whole atmosphere of the day. It's good WH was pragmatic, I guess that helped a lot.

I haven't been in a headspace to celebrate Christmas for years now. I'll have three sons around and parents but this year missing S1 and my brother who has been out to Australia 4 times this year and isn't coming. However s2 girlfriend is keen to make things Christmassy so we'll see how it goes. I may even get the old family Christmas tree back and put it up. My ex won't want it I don't think???? I'd like to start again but not really possible. For a few years my boys worked at the Christmas tree farm where we could get a fresh tree.

It would be lovely to have that kind of tradition with the fasting and giving. I think that kind of tradition with different religions is a really unifying thing. It puts everyone as equals more for a while.

Anyway I'm glad you were able to get the satisfaction of providing a Christmas spirit and pressies for the tree for nieces and nephews.

Smooth travels @Faith-and-Hope💜🤗💐

Re: Sleeping too much

Thanks @Former-Member ..... 😊

It's going to be an adventure, come what may ....

I was going to suggest that you find excuses to run raids on your old house ..... Christmas is a good one, especially if Gf2 is keen on making it Christmassy ... if you do the hunt and gather for the tree, you can land it with the kids to set it up.

Thought of having an old-fashioned tree ..... stringing popcorn, making Gingerbread biscuits to hang (in cellophane) and tie ribbons on apples and hang them too. You can "eat the tree" on Chritmas Day 😊

My parents didn't want to spend much on Christmas decorations when I was growing up. I used to make paper chains from magazine covers and Christmas ornaments from old Christmas cards, and put the new ones we received onto the tree. I still do that bit now, and put Gingerbread biscuits )0(in cellophane) amongst the branches .... my grown up kids still love it.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope

I have missed out on a bit of your story being off-line for a few days and it seems WH has a new wound and now - heaven help you - he is trying to heard a herd of young elephants already set on their own path.

Although I have missed some of this I am still here trying to catch up on the stories - and wondering how this will pan out and know that his way will be difficult trying to manage young adults

Lots of hugs - thinking of you and WH and all the young elephants

Re: Sleeping too much

I haven't talked to the ex in months now @Faith-and-Hope but he has a housemate moved in so I think it will have to be all very arranged and when someone is home. It's a 50km round trip too so the petrol has to be figured in. Thinking of getting my phams worker to come and do an inventory with me if I get permission to and then maybe try to borrow or hire a trailer and dads ute to collect it one weekend.

good luck with the packing. I'm gathering you are leaving very soon.

Re: Sleeping too much

Thanks @Decadian ❤️

Its just more control issues really .... they will come and go with this condition ... so all I can do is whinge about it when it gets up my nose, and push back gently when it's getting a bit OTT .... and the rest of the time just persevere ....

Better get on with this packing .....

Catch you later maybe ...

Re: Sleeping too much

Thanks @Former-Member. We're off in a couple of weeks.

All the best with that. You will already know to break it down into baby steps. Taking the phams worker with you sounds like an excellent idea ....

Take care of you ....
