Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Decadian @Former-Member @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @utopia @TAB @Former-Member @Former-Member @Shaz51
Well here I are! I've been running around trying to catch up with all the things I don't get a chance to do when I'm working. I've still got the grass to mow, weeds to poison (horrible thistle, thorn apple and etc.
Carpets to vacuum and then clean plus the mountain of washing!

Otherwise I'm going OK. I've got my sleep pattern back to nighttime etc. Sorry I haven't been around much. The longer hours have knocked me around a bit but I'm starting to adjust now.

I've tried to keep up with all the posts - at least reading them. I'm pleased you've managed to pull through the latest rough patch @Former-Member. You've done well.
@Former-Member just hang in there lass. It might not feel like it but I think you’re doing quite well.
@Decadian I'm so pleased your absence was a result of technical issues and nothing more insidious.
@TAB all the best for the job.
@Former-Member keep on keeping on.
Hope you're managing to keep cool @Shaz51
@Faith-and-Hope just ride with the ups and downs. You can do this but make sure that your self care is your top priority.

I'm looking forward to participating more regularly. Hi @moira - welcome to our family. I hope you find the sharing and caring here as helpful as most of us here do.

Take care all. Each and every one of you is important to all of us.

A quick mention about honesty : I personally believe that SANE is one of the few places where we can be completely honest. By doing this we not only help ourselves but also help others who may be experiencing similar things. Above all else such honesty allows allows others to help us in the best possible ways 🎶💕

Re: Sleeping too much

Funny thing is @Faith-and-Hope I saw this pastor years after I got myself off meds and alcohol and I told him I nearly died, he said, "yeah, I know", lol. Never said a word to my hubby or me during that time. I have to laugh. He knew what we were going through, so did others.

If you saw me in the street, you would think that I have it all together, lol. I'm good at covering it up. xo

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member, I'm really surprised at how uncaring so many people have been to you. Sometimes I think I've grown up under a rock because I have a limited experience of people in the real world. The only negative experience I've had with my MI was the reaction of one of the mums who couldn't look me in the eye after I attempted suicide as she couldn't believe I'd done that to my kids. The whole town knew because I lived in the main street and the local CFS had to get me out of the house for the ambos (long story). Mostly people have been ok but they don't expect it to have kept going, they expect me to be fixed by now.

I hope you get to find more caring and compassionate people in your future.

Dearest @Former-Member

This is brave of you to write so gently about your past. It is very hard to acknowledge that. Golly, How are you honey??

@Former-Member Yes, something like this happened to me at a church. But fortunately, many many years later, a breakthrough.......I met up with the reverend of that church where something very bad happened and out of the blue.....I was NOT expecting it.....he said, you know Anne, I just want to say to youI'm sorry, I wanted to meet you today to say sorry that I was''nt there when you were younger. I can only say...I just didnt know HOW to be but thats no excuse.

Can you imagine.......that YOU can forgive yourself for a time years ago......

pp x

Re: Sleeping too much

If only we could be "fixed" quickly. Long term illness is hard for most people to understand, unless it's physical. @Former-Member That's why these forums are good. I often think, oh my gosh! I've said too much, lol. Like tonight. xoxo

Re: Sleeping too much

It's been a pretty major adjustment @Bridg8. Also the nature of the work can be critical to have an immediate response. I'm loving the work and am very happy.

Even though I'm essentially going well my need for understanding, support, sharing and caring remain pivotal for my continued wellbeing xx

DEar @Former-Member

You sound like me. A little sensetive on something that is important to you. It's about your councellor.

You have grown and become more and more important to my and other people's workings out of our lives ......

Do you think that you can be honest and tell him/ her that you are scared of losing her and your very sensetive on losing her as well?

I need to go to sleep but just wanted to write this to you, probably someone will have a better idea than me......

Re: Sleeping too much

I think most of us in the street would look like we have it together @Former-Member .... that's part of the coping skills we develop, and that's okay too .... it provides a privacy screen .... it's when people know we're not okay but treat us like we're invisible that it bothers me. There is no harm in saying "I see you .... I hear you .... I'm not sure what to do to help you and I have to be careful not to overturn my own boat trying to help you p, but let's talk and see what we can work out .... and share the load with others too maybe ?" I know it can sound idealistic, but I have seen this spirit working, and the Greeks particularly who embrace their faith do it really well.

@Former-Member .... just letting you know I am hearing you. Not sure what to suggest, and thus might sound too simple, but can you talk to the counsellor exactly this way ? Tell her that you are seeing a repeated pattern, are afraid of losing her, and need help to change the pattern so you can change the outcome ? Someone else who has a similar cycle commented on another thread yesterday .... think you know who it is ..... and they suggested that each change, and each upset, adds up like a capped volcano building pressure, then it blows, and starts again. If you use that analogy, volcanos function best when they have side-vents to slow the pressure build-up and dissipate the lava so the cap doesn't blow ... maybe your counsellor is already working on this with you .... but I hope it's helpful to offer the observation here .... not any sort of expert, but you know that ...

Re: Sleeping too much

Thankyou everyone for letting me share a little of my story, "but wait there's more", lol. Don't worry, not tonight. If I wrote a book everyone would be shocked, lol. It is my intention to write a book, but not to shock people, to hopefully help people. Ok, now I am going to get ready for bed, this time for real.
