Re: Sleeping too much

@Kurra, like to hear more about your experience re this. Have you had the psychosis? I too have been carted to MH by police, its not a nice memory but agree they were the middle people in getting me safe, for treatment. I felt for years after that I must have a ciminal record now - but it seems not. Phew! My Bro3 is different in the sense that he is not harming anyone or in immanent danger to himself. He is troubled, and lonely... and won't do counselling etc because he doesn't see it as a problem with him.

Mother sent a tx this morning that he disappeared Friday but turned up again this morning & seems OK. I think its sad that house is his only perceived haven to run. The house of horrors run by an unstable hysterical & inconsistent two faced tyrant. But he takes his foil reflectors wherever he goes to sleep, to protect him from the blazer beams the gov use meth adicts & neighbours to target him with, to kiill him, for 10yrs now. Its really sad. I don't know what I can do but be there for him & living so far away I can only do that on the phone, but in small pieces because he gets argumentative.

Maybe I'm the same.Really need help to understand it.

Re: Sleeping too much

Still getting over my big day yesterday with two friends visiting & spending time. Then topped up by a wild party at the Beer Garden Forum. Loads of cyber tomfoolery goings on there. Glad we made Tab's day lol.

My mar text me to say Bro3 has turned up from missing and seems OK. I'm at a loss to know what to do, my anxiety over this is way out of proportion.

Want to ring my son for a chat but after finally returning my call last Sunday, he tells me 3 text messages a week is too much, and not to attach pictures ad they crash his phone and he even said I was "SO NEEDY!" So, I'm trying to pull back e end more, goes against e very thing I feel as a motthet (which he tells me I don't have to be anymore) and it hurts too. But life is pain. And everyone leaves.

Got a bit of headache but hope yo get into the garden shortly, maybe make a little progress on the big projects. Tried to solicit help from my two visitors yesterday, with the hard jobs, but it didn't work out. Ho humm. The lawns screaming for a hair cut but betta get rid of the headache first.

Just reporting in, hope its OK to do that, kinda settles my mind, and love it when someone replies.

OK, feet to floor...

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member
The mental health act might differ slightly in each state. However all law tends to use phrases that are a bit of a catch all.

Off the top of my head I'm fairly certain that all would contain certain conditions that need to exist before the mha can be invoked.

1. Suffers from or may suffer from a mental illness or mental dysfunction.

2. Is a danger to self or to others or may be a danger to self or others.

3. Is refusing treatment.

If all these points apply then the police can place the person under an Emergency Order which gives the police the authority to take that person to the nearest place for help. A person can be held against their will for no longer than 72 hours.

It's been a long time since I studied this law but the gist of it would still be along these lines.

You do not have a criminal record because the police have helped you in a time of dire need. You haven't committed any crime so you can't be charged with anything and you won't have a criminal record.

I'm glad your bro has turned up. He clearly needs to be on treatment but you may have to wait for the next crisis. However if he's got foil all over the place to protect him from evil forces it's possible that a welfare check would still be appropriate.

It sounds as if your son is trying to control you. If I were you I'd send one message a week. Tell him you love him. Maybe mention the weather or something else but keep it short. Young adults can be very tetchy and think they know it all. I know I did at that age and I was awful. Too many messages probably is interpreted as Mum just nagging again.

Hang on to the support and friends you have here and try to push your bro and ypur son from your thoughts for a while.
Right beside you lass. 💕💜💕

Re: Sleeping too much

Love that you report in @Former-Member ..... ❤️

Sorry your S1 is doing that to you .... it seems mean .... but actually he's just following through with the ideas of many of his age .... probably reinforced by his girl .... they think that's what it means to be independent and grown up .... and they are still in a very self-centred state of mind .... they're not seeing it from your perspective, in much the same way a toddler doesn't, unfortunately ..... 😔

Life has a way of changing .... and changing matters around us .... and I hope they change for the more compassionate ..... but maybe too your S1 hasn't addressed his own need for healing yet ..... and you're meeting with his protective shell .... 🐢

I know that doesn't actually make you feel better .... but it might help you to not take it personally ..... there are many parents of grown children who turf them out of the nest as soon as thy possibly can cos they want their own life and financial resources back to spend on themselves .... and will actually move interstate or overseas the minute their child graduates High School ..... aged 17yo ..... 😳:face_with_rolling_eyes:😔

Its a way of life .... one way of life ..... there are other ways ....

If you get to uploading photos of your work .... share them with us ❣ ..... pleeeaaase .... ❓❣

Re: Sleeping too much

Thank You @Kurra & @Faith-anf-jope, its hard to be positive with so much crapola in ya face from family. Bit teary about that. Trying to hang onto my visits yesterday, but think there's a neurol trench for the negative as wide as the Grand Canyon, keep slipping into it. Gives me a headache lol

Hand to task is the only way fwd - moving lol
thanks again.

Does everyone have a public holiday tomorrow? Think its Queens B'day. Otherwise I'll force myself to duck up to the library to upload these photos. Wish I could work out how to tether my phone to my laptop to get internet on that. Maybe pin S1 down to help some time.

Re: Sleeping too much

After noon @Former-Member, sorry to hear all your recent goings on..that's pretty tough on all fronts.
I'm having a pleasant enough day, just pulling up my thoughts here & there after a big night out last night.
Gee, I know it's hard but maybe take a big breather away from your son?
I'm quite disgusted he treats you horribly. It's not fair at all, & I think he needs to treat you with respect. You so deserve this Tawney.
I can't imagine how heart breaking it would feel to be rejected constantly by him, when your own family is so compromised.
He needs to step up & be more a young man.
And we all care about you.💜
I've got one whingeing child, errrr...

How did your friend visit go?
I'm sorry I may have missed conversations of late, to keep up.
Nice cup of tea time for you I reckon.☕🍪😘

Re: Sleeping too much

Thanks @Former-Member, it sure helps to tell someone and feel support and added understandings, especially re S1. Hesitate to appear to bag family (right or wrong), especially our children because it can reflect on us as failed parents & backfire badly, But being anonymous helps. My son left for college shortly before my girl died, and they were gone, suddenly it seemed. Just still can't get my head - heart around it. But being treated this way is nothing new. Seems I'm the catalyst and I keep trying to change. But maybe now not for them but myself & God. This I think is the hidden treasure of senior years - time to sort yourself out.

Have you ever worried there might be one or two people on the forums who have figured out who you are? Oh dear 😕

Re: Sleeping too much

@Former-Member, it's a hard one to say but your situation would definitely be leaving you feeling vulnerable.
I think if others recognize us, well maybe they should take a moment to think heh this person obviously felt so bad to come to the forums in the first place.
I.e: A real hole of non understanding & being heard in real life. I think.
IIf you feel stalked? I'd say just trim up details so you feel less vulnerable. Yes at times I become paranoid about lots of things. So I really have to pull up on myself.

On the other end others here have come to know you, & friendships form...just in a new age kinda fashion!!
I think Tabs beer party alone, shows some pretty cool community spirit! 😉
I say bugger the negative types, & work with those that truely do care & listen with respect.
If it means we look to other means of understanding & support then so be it! 😊💜
