Re: Sleeping too much

@Former-Member, no he went off his meds two years back, without MH realising. The paranoid delusions are still there on meds, he just doesn't get so upset about them on meds. Of cause he thinks meds are the gov trying yo silence him... Perhaps I'm too close & an admission & forced meds will help. I don't know. How you going today?

Hi F&H, have you enjoyed your hols? Keep reporting on the good stuff too (so need to hear that from somewhere). Feeling hooked in by family again (their probs really affect me).

Thanks for the heat pack reminder - getting onto that. Think my acid levels might be up as need to replenish my magic soup stores - up the vegies intake & reduce bread. Had a couple of sweet binges this week too, sugar doesn't help. All gets a bit hard sometimes so resting today. Nice talking 💜

An out of town friend is insistant on sroppingvin tomorrow, need to clear a space for that. Oh dear, if you could see how upsidedown my house is. Happens with the house projects.
💜 💕

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member
Sometimes we have to do something you normally wouldn't even begin to think about.

When I have been in a similar way to your bro someone has contacted the Police and asked them to do a welfare check on me. Of course they must have provided a location.

The cops are amazingly kind and will only be as rough and tough as is needed to keep a person safe. They can and often take a person who needs help to the best available place.

If you choose to do this you might find it easier to actually go to your local cop shop and talk to one of the officers personally. It's often easier than on the phone. They can then relay the necessary information to any part of Australia.

I've been in your brother's situation far too many times. I don't know how many but I do know that those coppers looked after me when I couldn't look after myself. I'm alive today because the cops were there to protect me and keep me safe. Every single day I remember how much I owe the police.

Can you put a $ figure on life. I can't.

Take care lassie and seek additional help for TAWNEY. It's tough stuff. 💜💕💜

Try not to sweat the small stuff @Former-Member .... the mess in the house equates to progress .... as does the sore back .....

Proudly show her your work !

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member

Thanks for the group hug - I copied that and might use it here myself sometime - I have put your name on it so I know it's your pic - great hug for sinus-stricken members to enjoy - [lmao]

My sinuses are starting to dry up - the cause - really bad hayfever season I have been told - by the doctor, the pharmacist, the nurses at the clinic, my domestic helpers, the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker -etc etc etc

My feeling like a leper started a weekend before last with a huge sore in my nose - and this must have infected my sinuses - and for whatever reason it was my turn to have the bad infection that made me ache and sweat and blow my nose non-stop and use up nearly two boxes of tissues - I saw my doctor again last night and I was so dizzy I nearly fell over twice in his office - he said for some reason it is persistent and to continue with the antibiotics and antihistamines and all the other stuff - and continue the home cures and steam - hey - I have a new one with the steam - make up honey and lemon in a big cup and add really hot water and really inhale lemon scented steam

With some many different things I will not know what it was that worked - but hopefully today - something is helping - I think so - and hope so

Your back - ahhhhhhhh - that is an entirely different story. How do I live with my bad back?

If I had thought about this is 1995 it might have been a different solution - if there is such a solution. I do have strong medication I could not manage without - but the idea of pain-management is more than that.

Back when I was in the other website - someone asked me how I did not let my back pain define me.

I switched to private messaging at this point and told her that the death of my son had defined me before I developed chronic pain syndrome - and having got to far with that - long term chronic pain is easier to cope with than severe forms of mental conflict -

I feel more at home in this website with the people who have something no one can see - being a bereaved mother, PTSD, being Emotionally Fragile, being an adult survivor of child abuse - I belong here where people understand all of that

But still - how do I manage the pain - apart from the medication? I meditate - and keep my mind active - my main exercise is walking and I haven't done that lately - and really notice this, eat well and take probiotics - and some other supplements - and it is a life-time commitment

I have help from an agency with my domestic chores and driving to the shops etc - it is a Government Package. I don't know what to write about the Package - they are available but hard to get - I could never do that hard work you could do - aw - maybe I could but it would make my life harder.

I had an MRI about a year ago - my lumbar spine has a lot of damage - from the sporting excesses of my youth - and yes - I was an athlete - and what I think is really important is the power of the mind because the same mind is running the same body - and this is a really strong point

All the best @Former-Member

Life can be so darn hard at times

Re: Sleeping too much

Thanks guys, appreciate the tips / input.

Better go clear a couple chairs & bench tops for my visitor tomorrow, slowly slowly 🙂

The birds have come back after yesterdays stormy day. Still windy but sunny & fresh. I can hear a magpie & Rosella close by, probably should go feed them. These are the little joys in life that I'm learning to focus more on than the other.

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Appleblossom

It is great to have Mum-to-Mum info talk - there are kids and kids- and they are all different - and sometimes there are kids that throw massive tantrums - which are really horrific when they are nearly 6 feet tall and intoxicated

It's something we have to live through to really get - I remember being told that a smack on a backside well covered with jeans was child abuse - and told this person I refused to be held accountable for something I did over 40 years ago - the person backed off - maybe my eyes got a dangerous flash then

When son was little and did his noisy taking-it-out-on-the-concrete-path thing - I would stand and tap my foot looking skywards saying "some mothers" and hoped the audience would disappear -

What did I do? When? I forget honestly - but I did a lot of yelling and still refuse to feel guilty about it

@Former-Member

It is tough to deal with your brother - yes - he is mentally ill - I think my son was but I will never know - and your brother is terrified. I so hope that everything can last until his helping-person gets back

Yes - the police can be very caring in such situations - I had the CAT myself after my mother died - I suddenly started screaming - at home - and someone was scared enough and cared enough to ring the police - and they CAT was kind and helpful and went away with the comment it was a normal grief reaction. I guess it would vary from person to person - team to team - but your brother is scared and what do you do? What are you supposed to do?

I don't know - I wish I had a better answer - a better story - whatever -

Re: Sleeping too much

Try some yoghurt too @Former-Member to improve gut health. Kind of calms the system to stop acid forming. If I get out of hand, in pregnancies etc had same problem. Sugar will tip balance, and yep bread unfortunately.
Um, your bro Yeh sooo hard when your close. Sounds like meds help ease his load.
@Kurra has a good idea. I'd never had thought this. But I guess they are trained to be negotiators, peace keepers...always good to hear a flip side Kurra.
I think they deal with all kinds so get good at picking how to deal.
A friend sounds like a good distraction for you. 😊
