Re: Sleeping too much
Hi @Former-Member
My cat tried to use my computer when she was young - I had a nature theme on it - it was an old desktop made of recycled parts - and it was on a tower opposite the front door
So my cat jumped onto the keyboard and the alarm went off like a crazy parrot - squawking loudly - and the cat jumped and run to the front door and nearly went through it like a cartoon-cat - and was so annoyed when I fell onto the floor laughing my head off
That cure her of trying to use the computer - never goes near it
And I love it when she gets into bed with me - I have been turning the heater off at night now it's milder - and so she gets under the covers with me.
She's getting older - me too - and is not as flightly and likely to wander off as she was when she was younger - we are used to each other's ways - so she doesn't go crook when the heater is off - she just gets into bed with me - and I know - she gets there for the warmth - but I love her
She's my companion and knows all my secrets and can't tell anyone - that is wonderful

Re: Sleeping too much
I believing in encouraging our kids to follow their passion too
As it turned out - dd was to love gardening - and her apprenticeship took her to working at a place where she had the chance to modernate her knowledge and she is a highly qualified horticulturalist
I am proud of her
Okay - as I was the first of three - Dad was having trouble paying for my education and like his father before him took the first kid out of school - but that did not stop me - my passion was for learning
He regretted this later when my younger siblings did not stay at school longer - we talked about it later in life - he was proud of the way I followed his example of self-education - and I am glad
In year 10 I was struggling - not with the school work but I had a bout of flu that winter and could not get over it - still did well with my exams but did was easy to leave school after battling the time I had missed - but I couldn't stand not studying - which is how I came to study accountancy
I see it this way - present the ideas - if the kid is academic - they will take that road - if they are not - they can do TAFE or an apprenticeship. All my daughter's step-children did apprenticeships - and my gd started her degree - she has ill health right now so I think she is taking time out for her health - but is learning graphic body art - this could be her passion
My idea is to support kids in their passion - as long as they are doing something - ill health has to be taken into consideration too - and if a person has a passion for being a tattooist - maybe this is their forte
I wish all our young kids the best - and to remember - it is never to late to increase our education

Re: Sleeping too much
Cats are great companions @Decadian. Yours sounds lovely, glad she snuggles in bed with you.
Do you see your daughter much, does she live close to you?
Yes, it's a good idea to encourage people to follow their passion.. That's what I tell my daughter.
Always a busy day with kids @Former-Member. Especially when you have 3 boys, I'm sure there's never a dull moment in your day.

Hi @Former-Member
I have added a picture of my boss - she is a beautiful cat - atm she still has her winter coat which is rather long and looks a bit like a mohair jumper
My daughter works and has a pretty busy social life - and a lot of family she sees - but we text often - and see each other for coffee now and again. We're good friends
Year 10 was a nightmare for her - she was too young to understand why her brother was in prison - I have never explained to her why - she doesn't want to talk about it and I alone know the truth - but the time might come when she does. That was the year he died and so she did not attend school often but was at home with my permission and I taught her when I could - I was studying that year but not working
But we talked her into doing year 11 and she did well - and really loves her trade - actually to me it seems more like a profession now

Re: Sleeping too much
Ah yes she is @Faith-and-Hope
And she loves everyone and everyone loves her
It's wonderful - even my mother was glad I had her - which is wonderful too
She will be 13 in October - and finally stopped acting like a kitten - but she is really clever

Re: Sleeping too much
She's a gorgeous cat @Decadian I love her pink collar. The cat I have now doesn't wear a collar, but our last one did. His had a bell on it, to warn the birds that he was around. He often would lose the collar though. The cat we have now, doesn't really know what a bird is. She's really fluffy, like a rag doll breed. I'm not sure if I mentioned to you that she is losing her eyesight. I did mention it somewhere on the forum. I still haven't learnt how to put photos on here.
I'm glad that you are good friends with your daughter, that's great that she enjoys her job. Do you have grandchildren? Very sad about her brother passing away while she was so young. ![]()
I just made some piklets with maple syrup. No cream though, still yummy.

Re: Sleeping too much
Ah @Former-Member - I have some pancake mix - I could get some lemons of the tree and add some sugar - what a brilliant ideas
I didn't know your cat was losing her eyesight - I guess they are clever and if they stay inside they can find their way around - that is sad though - but someone having a cat with special needs is special too - my cat has special needs too - yes - special
My daughter has a daughter - and three step-sons and so I have 7 step-great-grand-children - I see them at Christmas - there seem to be more coming all the time - I am pretty lucky -
My son died 30 years ago - she really doesn't want to talk about it - and I respect that - maybe in the future she will want to know. She was only 14 - and maybe has resentments - I can understand that
You probably have read that in the forum - but it is so big and so busy I find I can't keep up with everything and I forget a lot of things.
Now - pancakes - if it has stopped raining I will dash out to the lemon tree with my torch - we have a communal lemon tree here - I hope there's a few lemons left on it - with all the rain we have had they should be good - if they are there
This weather - ah - I am over it - I am trying to work out who ordered it and how to send it back

Re: Sleeping too much
Yum! Lemon and sugar on pancakes. @Decadian.
Whoops! I made hubby chop our lemon tree down years ago. It had terrible spikes on it and I was concerned our daughter would hurt herself on it and it kept popping holes in her balls. It grew heaps of lemons, now I miss it.
Yes, our cat finds her way around well. Bumps into things sometimes. She still goes outside, I know she's safe, because she stays close to the house and hides under a pergola for the day. Poor little darling, it is sad when she bumps into walls.
