Re: Sleeping too much

OMG @Appleblossom

They made you eat vomit - that is so gross

Yet - thanks for telling us - you just filled in an empty square in my life -

When my son was in a children's psyhe unit I thought it was the best thing - it turned out not to be - but it gave me an insight into the system that was to grow

It was a few years later after he had been taken out of there - he had watched a movie about a little vietnameze orphan - and it impressed him

Have other people have woken up the moment before their kids ''erk splat" - it seemed I always did - and he threw up in his bed and from there to the bathroom - I dunno what it was - but it was more than TMI

So - I told my husband to fix him up and started on the floor - and when I got to the hall he was sitting on the couch - and he saw me on my hands and knees - madly sucking vit c tablets - and he asked

"Mum - what would happen to a poor little boy in Viet Nam who didn't have a mother and got sick like this?"

You know those moment when the roof comes of the house of your thoughts

"R - what did they do to you in T?"

For years I thought they made him clean it up -

But yes - it was worse than that -

It is a terrible thing to know - but I am glad I know - thanks for telling me that - the puzzle of the past is coming together - bit by sticky bit

Decadian [so sorry about the things in the past we cannot change]

Re: Sleeping too much

That's wonderful @Faith-and-Hope

You maybe know that there are beautiful moments that come unexpectedly - even if we do not feel completely executed by family fights and our kids' thoughtlessness - and these moments are precious

My birthday is soon - a few days - being taken out to lunch on that day will be pretty cool - certainly better than "I was working that day!!!!" [sound FX - grumping]

But I have my own little Happy Birthday on-line - so cool - great - and redeemable hugs - big hugs

Wow

Decadian - so pleased

Re: Sleeping too much

I love your story @PeppiPatty

It is easy to forget self-care - I shared a house with my husband a long time after we were not living as man and wife

I was hard on him - I thought his snoring was from smoking - and now I think he had sleep-apneoa - and I was a horrible person back then

So - hey - new idea - I decided that self-care can be not just in getting out of a marriage - but getting out of the house

So I know he doesn't take good care of himself - but I do - even though I have meltdowns from time to time

Okay - I might be one of those people whose plastic bags you go through - please feel free - I do not like collecting things I don't use - but the things I do use I wear to tatters - so glad I was home the day the stretchy stuff in the waist band of my ancient trousers gave way and they fell to my ankles

About the flu - that is disastrous - and burst ear drums - I thought I might be getting the flu last night - but I think it was the back wash from Friday - which was frightful - the flu is such a serious disease

And your story about your husband - quit smokes, alcohol and other stuff and gives the nurses the run around in hospital - ahhh - I might have been harder on him - but - there you are - we are all different

I hope things are improving - or are they

A blast from the past - Granma used to ring Dad at work

"Son - your father has given up smoking"

"What do you want me to do about it?"

"He's impossible - can you find him a job or something?"

Grandfather said he was the champion of giving up smoking - he had given it up more often than anyone

I do hope your life gets better @PeppiPatty - but I love the way you have written all that

Re: Sleeping too much

Hi @Former-Member

Children in the system were treated in ways that are the result of the wrong kind of people doing work that they should not - they are given power over helpless beings - and they have no excuse for their behaviour

But it happened

I grew up on a police station - my memories are clear - I was old enough to be told that there were things that happened and to keep away from certain people - not even to have contact with the children involved

Some things I learned from - others I wish I never knew about

I am not a secretive person - but I have them - esp from that time in my life - I do - and I still can't repeat them

Re: Sleeping too much

@PeppiPatty, you have your hands full with your hubby & son - serious MI. Must be exhausting, and lonely. // I hope hubby mellows enough for your boys to forgive him one day. // Yes, i'm confident my son will find value in having what's left of his mum one day - get over the anger. I really hope he doesn't have MI smouldering away inside. I don't know if its the blackdog talkin but i instinctively feel he's better off if i stay away from him mostly. Not sure why, some interaction thing. Hopefully some stress will lift now he's finished his degree. // Glad your son said he misses you, he loves you. It feels good here too those phone calls here too when my boy actually says he loves me too. Thanks for heloinf me find a sense of normal with it all.

@Decadian,
// you're right about the things we suffer as mothers, savouring the good moments is the key I think - storing up treasured moments, but it can be hard to see them looking back through trauma though. It sounds really hard, with your adopted son, and how hard for him (withdrawals).
// sounds like you were abused in care as a child too - so sorry decadian 🌿
// You did make me chuckle though, about not coming close to a big fat Greek social 'anything' - more like 'mild and polite Anglo-Celtic events'😄 😄😄. I can relate!! that emptiness.
// Actually, this reminds me of i JOKE i saw online: "Next time you feel lonely, remember Nasa's spacecraft 'Curiosity' it is programmed to sing Happy Birthday to itself once a year." But I'll join in chorus with faith-and -hope for your special day 🎶 this coming week🍰 I hope it's special. Have to make mine special, but must say, a friend did drop flowers by last time. We're Never alone - we're all all connected.

@Faith-and hope, missed you girl! So glad the BFG18th went well over all, trust D3 felt fussed over& special. Was that your gift, the party? Or did you get her something else special. Shame on that WH going ballistic at you 😒, glad he repented later - in actions anyway. Don't get me talking about men grrr. // Your d.i.l. (don't mean to be unkind but does that spell dill? lol 😄), she sounds like a dark horse & maybe a little intimidated by the big fat gk family thing, like your younger self. Finding common ground might help with this. // Glad you're being gentle on yourself with the party clean up. No point stressing.

MY DAY, I did go to church & the lunch that followed - pea ham soup, even accepted a lift in. It went ok but i got the 'faints' again, had to discretely sit all the time, and drink lots of cold water. // The 1/2hr drive home got tense when my friends hubby snapped at her for running a red light. 🚥 things went real quiet for the rest of the journey (tension). // It may not be related but i have a pounding headache since - just took a strong pain killer for it. Still glad I went out though // When i got home i noticed the front gate ajar - someone has been here, an extreme rarity for me - this will bug me all week now, not knowing who it was. // Just nodded off but woke with a start when a huge long haired gray dog 🐾🐾🐾 sprang to his feet at me, startled, weird. Think I better go rest this head

So nice to see you all🌞

Blessings to anyone else reading this 🌈

Hi @Former-Member

Love what you did there with the smoke puffs from your little red wagon ......

D.i.l. (dill) has bipolar, and it can be difficult to work out her boundaries, ie what is mi stuff, and what are her personal choices which you might say are not directly related ...... if that is even possible ...... still trying to work it out ....... and she has been very difficult in the past. I do know that she struggles in her relationship with her own mother, who has ocd issues herself, and d.i.l.'s aunt is bipolar too. I have tried to work from common ground as much as possible, but it feels like a one-way street most of the time.

WH is in the grip of an e.d., undiagnosed, in denial, and swinging about all over the place in a self-punishing regimen of exercise and extreme eating patterns. He has it cleverly masked (also to himself ?) to represent a very healthy lifestyle, but it is starting to show up for what it really is ...... we are having to be very patient and just keep trying to walk beside him, and love him, until this thing is properly dealt with ....... these mood swings and "alternate reality" are part of the bigger picture. Awkward, but manageable mist of the time, and he us taking himself off interstate and overseas a bit too, which is helping to break the tension at home. He had a "brain snap" at D1 at some point yesterday too ...... but we have to stay focussed on the good stuff more than the out of order stuff, so it doesn't get to take over everything all the time.

Yes, the party was D3's gift, along with some other bits and pieces .....

Glad you got out and about a bit today, and experienced something new ........ sometimes that helps us to come back to the comfort of what is familiar with new appreciation too ....... love that pooch of yours ❣

Trying to motivate myself to go and start the BFG-clean-up-and-pack-away now ....... some stuff was hired and gas to go back in the morning, and cars have to fit back into the garage ........ have curled up in bed for an afternoon sleep, and would rather stay here .........

💜🌷

Hi @Decadian @Former-Member @Appleblossom @Former-Member @Mazarita @Faith-and-Hope and all like @Former-Member

( how are you @lisajane ? My song to you ....Mr Bo Jangles)

Thank you for writing about my message I wanted to write right back to you.

CAn I answer in piont form?? Yeah, whatever on ex's self care, he can work that one out. If he COMES to you and asks, I'm pretty positive that you will tell him because thats the kind of lady you are hey?

It's difficult to remember self care when your in a relatoinship...for myself at least. Everything that I do needs to be calm and positive and we argue a lot but underneath everything is

1. repect for each other (please and thank you and me softly hi 5 ing his hand whenever he farts but I can't stand it....)

To tell the truth @Decadian...when it was all happening you know the nurses and not breathing from smoking this is what I was thinking.................

my beautiful husband history of being jailed from hospitals ignoring him and me too many times.

His immediate and medium term needs ignored by Doctors and Nurses for too many years.

Mother who is very money orientated and my Mother, her friend: very money orientated. Borderline/ narcassistic.

Just everything against him for many years. Beaten up and made homeless in the past...

I wanted to cry with joy that the hospital were treating him like a very clever cute 49 year old male without a MI.

But Im exhausted. I'm on my own journey and I must remember this. I booked in for committment from my Psychotherapist to write a book

I work to pay for this (hate hate hate hate)

I see someone once a week to understand the Bible.

We do Take 5 and Thats sLife to keep my husbands brain going.

I'm beginning to hand sew quilts. So thats another one week committment.

I've learn't to chuck all clothes away except for the couple of outfits...like you....fortunately nothing has fallen down to my ankles ( yet)

My medium term goal is to start drawing again.

I smiled when you said that you would have been harder on him....re: the nurses ...your so kind, I should have been......

It feels when I get to my two sons; one who moved in with me and he's home occasionally; that I really need to do more with my oldest son what can I do?? I text him.

I feel my life is absolutely wonderful. I live in paradise in Western Australia, I live in Public housing, paying public housing in Paradise, beach 30 secs away and a nice place for Arlo to run.

So much meds but whatever. I get my meltdown too. We must do something with them creatvely ...What do you think ???

Your my cool friend with your compliments I needed to read right now.
