Partners who chose to stay for the long haul

Partners who chose to stay for the long haul

Living and loving someone with MI presents relationship challenges and often others cannot see why we chose to stay with our partners.

Being mindful of not intruding on others stories I thought having a thread where we can share tips and encourage one another would be of value.

Re: Partners who chose to stay for the long haul

I keep making little corners for myself but he invades them due to hypervigilence and jealousy. Boredom and loneliness. I am able to amuse myself painting or knitting or sketching or playing guitar and sculpting. He needs an audience but craves to be left alone. Like a spoilt teen. Some days I just give up. But then others somehow I find a strength to say "NO....you are pushing the bounardies of existence too far." Im not a phsychiatrist go find one your demanding too much of my life with your selfishness.
maybe I will try that one tomorrow. Its about time. Not engage with him but push the MI back a bit.
maybe???

hugs.

@Carlachris

You have some wonderful hobbies. I hope they bring some joy and respite to your days. I'm not creative or artistic but I can play guitar and I like to sing.
Hello to those I have not met before @LizzieLou @Emelia8 and anyone else not tagged.

Re: Partners who chose to stay for the long haul

@Former-Member still rocky but improving. Dr put him on a new mood stabiliser 3 weeks ago and we've seen a small improvement. Yesterday she upped the dose a little. While we are still having the events as often through the day they are not as violent and not as long lasting. He has finally stopped waking me up 2 or 3 times a night to share his latest grievance. A huge blessing when I have to go to work every morning.

A different kind of problem has reared it's ugly head over the last two weeks - that of manic hypersexuality - something I'm emailing him about because he won't talk to me, but his behaviour in that regard is not something I should have to come to terms with.

I have found these forums to be a great help in two ways. They keep me connected with people who know how I feel without having to justify myself, and there are always those doing it much tougher who I can, in turn, encourage.

One day at a time. Thanks for your message xoxo
