having a bad morning

having a bad morning

I am feeling that my life at the moment is crap. I am so depressed and find that more so in the mornings. I hate myself so much, the way I feel, the way I act and behave. I know people will say to me 'oh just get over it' or 'you're not trying hard enough' - well to those people who say that: Do you have a mental illness; do you know what it's like to have depression and feel so dark that you cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel; do you self harm to get rid of your emotions and to feel the pain; or do you think about suicide because it's all too much and you can't handle the pain anymore - NO. So don't tell me to just 'move on' or 'stop being too sensitive'.

I am not having a good morning this morning; tears are flowing as i am typing. And I have to get ready for work; damn work. Sometimes I wonder if life is worth living and why?

I really don't know how i am going go today at work; I feel so depressed. 😞

Re: having a bad morning

Hello again @BlueBay

Just did some research. If you look up "Doctors listed under the "Australian Menopause Society" in your city/area you will find quite a few you can ring and explain what you are going through enquiring whether they treat peri-menopause in particular.

One that I noted was a Endocrinologist professor (I saw a endocrinologist and he recommended hormone treatment). His name is Professor Paul Komesarff, Alfred Hospital, Prahan. If not suitable there are many gynaecologists under the above listing that you could ring and specifically ask if they treat peri-menopause with hormones (I found the natural remedies were not enough for my severe symptoms ). It's trial and error and you would need to check them out - but a place to start. Ask around in your circles if they know of anyone (some may have gone through similar but not talk about it). I will keep doing some research. Hope that helped.

@Former-Member thank you. I was just googling the same thing!!!

I will make some phone calls in the next few days. Is an endoronologist better than a gyno??

Re: having a bad morning

Hi @BlueBay

Yes, I am of the understanding that Endocrinologists specialise in hormones and may be the best ones to pursue first. The specialist that treated me was an endocrinologist. The Jean Hailes for women's health in Vic have endocrinologists that are hormone specialists if that helps. They are out there - it's just a matter of tracking down the good ones. Let us know how you go. Will keep looking myself xx

Hi @BlueBay and @Former-Member

This looks like a very productive conversation - Sadgirl, I hope this is an avenue that is helpful for you!

I just wanted to flag, as you may or may not know, we don't allow the mention of individual practitioners / doctors. One of the posts was fine, as OverTheEdge was listing the name from a website. I had to remove the other though - I wasn't sure if that was from the website or a personal recommendation.

Hope you both are okay with this

That's okay @NikNik

Re: having a bad morning

It was from a Google search @NikNik in Vic. Not a personal recommendation. Trying to help as I know what sad girl is going through personally through lived experience.

Re: having a bad morning

Hi @BlueBay

I had to take yesterday off from the computer because of another stress headache so I am glad to read that you might get into hospital on Monday - winter is a bad time for emotions generally but in your case you have had it far worse and then that stuff-up - which is really unpleasant and hard for you

Menopause - really a man would have trouble understanding what that is like and it varies from woman to woman - it is over unpleasant with heat flashes, itchiness and mood swings - sometimes weight gain or loss and all sorts of changes

I had Hormone Replacement Therapy - a GP can manage that if it's not too bad - some women have patches or tablets - but if these don't work there are pellets that can be put into your belly or thigh by a gyno - and this was very helpful for me

The hot flashes vary too - for me I used to just melt into my chair and my mother said "Humph - I never had any trouble when I was going through that" - but I recall she would yell at the rest of us and throw open the doors and windows in the middle of winter with the gales blowing icy air through the house and blaming us for all of it - so it varies - and it can be treated

I am glad you finally broke down and your psyche see how bad you are feeling and my fingers are crossed too hoping you can get into hospital too - before Monday would be great - maybe some people there are ready to go home for the weekend - let's hope so

Re: having a bad morning

I'm going to hospital tomorrow!!!!
Yes Finally. The hospital rang and my Pysch will admit me in tomorrow.
I've had to arrange staff to cover my shifts. Think my psych has realised how bad I am.
I'll let you all know how I go. Xxoo
