Living with Ourselves

Living with Ourselves

hello @eudemonism @eth @outlander @Bunniekins @Mazarita @Silenus @NameUnknown @Grasshopper3 @patientpatient @soul @Former-Member @Determined @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Friendconnect @Teej @utopia @Queenie @Appleblossom @Zam @perseverer @Janna @Owlunar @Former-Member @Former-Member

First of all I wanted to let you know that I have conversed with all of you at some stage on both sides of the forum..

It was my intention to close two of my threads and change my name in the kindest way for all of you...

I commenced this process on the 12th March and today is the first day that I have access to actually post or respond to anyone....I was in the last couple of days able to register a new name and like some posts...

I am so sorry that my profile ended so abruptly that was definitely not my intention....

In fact if I had done it my way.. instead of thinking would be better to be guided through the process....I would have just written on one of my threads my reason for closing my account tagging you all in....then requested account to be closed and username put to bed so to speak

I have chosen to take this path in order to protect my family's sense of safety .. privacy...health..

Please let me reassure you that this has nothing to do with any members on here...

I have tagged each and everyone of you because you have given me support and invited me into a little of your worlds...priceless experiences...I have felt heard and valued on here....Thank you all so much..

Moving forward ...this is who I am now and hope to be able to converse on the forum living in the now not the past...therefore no mention of my previous username necessary...

If you do not know who I am...that is fine also...perhaps all of the above is not relevant for you..

take care

Re: Living with Ourselves

hi @eudemonism It is Whitehawk here the moderator this evening. Can I just clarify your post about reaching out for help? Are you wanting to speak or chat to someone this evening to seek help? There are a number of possibilities but I would like to know what would suit you at the moment.

warmest regards

Whitehawk

@Former-Member

I'm just trying to find the line between reaching out for help and reaching out to talk... when is appropriate time to reach out and when is not ???

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hi @eudemonism

You pose a very interesting question. Sometimes we might really need help and yet be very reluctant to reach out to others for help. We want to avoid being a burden, think we are unworthy of help or might think that others have more pressing needs than us. We might be able to identify our own help seeking behaviour and patterns. Am I a good helpseeker or am I more the 'stoical' or 'self reliant' type? Learning to be a good helpseeker can be a vital step towards better mental health. At SANE we suggest that it is far better to reach out for help sooner rather than later and that being a good helpseeker is an important skill to develop.

warmest wishes

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hello @eudemonism

Great question..

This would make a very interesting topic for all those working within the field of helping people living with mind struggles...

For me reaching out for help means that I have come to a point where I do not feel that I can cope within myself, with my current symptoms...

I no longer feel that my current help, medication or coping strategies are working..

There are then many variations of reaching out for help also..

the sane forums are one area where we can express how we feel or ask for support

helplines are other areas

there are also many sources of information on the sane website that I often forget to look at and surprise myself when I find useful information or leads elsewhere..

Reaching out to talk is vital as well ...

This is a means of looking after our health...taking charge of our health recovery...

This is also human interraction as you mentioned in a previous post which is important ..

we can achieve this by instigating conversation with others in everyday life ..shopping..transport..medical ..walking along the street saying hello or a smile goes a long way.

I know that when someone smiles at me I feel an inner glow and I love the fact that when I smile at complete strangers I feel something back..

Great subject again Eude..

Always nice to log on and find your posts here 💜

Re: Living with Ourselves

Thanks @Former-Member

Yes, i try to manage on my own; and i try to be self sufficient... but eventually it comes down to reaching out ...

i sometimes figure, that there's only so much, help can do though...

You could say, I'm caught between reaching out, and getting on with life...

Re: Living with Ourselves

Oh my goodness @eudemonism

Stopping medication of any type suddenly can create health issues..

3 days is not long enough for them to start working effectively..

How do you feel about letting your gp know that you have stopped them ..making an earlier appointment...

Please take care of youself ...I am worried that you are going to be ok.

Have you heard of health direct telephone line:

Here is some information just in case..for non urgent health issues. If you notice any changes in how you are feeling after suddenly stopping taking medication.

urgent health issues you still go directly to emergency department of closest hospital

Non-urgent assistance

If your health concern is not urgent call the healthdirect helpline at any time on 1800 022 222 for free advice and reassurance. The healthdirecthelpline is a 24-hour telephone health advice line that operates seven days a week. It is staffed by registered nurses who provide expert health advice.

Take care Eude 💜

Hey @eudemonism,

I can hear you have strongly come to a decision about your medication after some terrible experiences. I would reiterate @Sophia1's concerns for your health. Please reach out to those contacts @Sophia1 mentioned if you experience anything worrying going off these medications.

Take care,

Good afternoon @eudemonism

I slept in again this morning..

I have found myself with a sleep debt again and have had night time medications increased.

So it is now afternoon.

Hello Eude and find something to smile about this day as a different day to all those that have gone before.

I am smiling now just writing to you.

Take care 💜
