Living with Ourselves

hello @eudemonism @eth @outlander @Bunniekins @Mazarita @Silenus @NameUnknown @Grasshopper3 @patientpatient @soul @Former-Member @Determined @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Friendconnect @Teej @utopia @Queenie @Appleblossom @Zam @perseverer @Janna @Owlunar @Former-Member @Former-Member

First of all I wanted to let you know that I have conversed with all of you at some stage on both sides of the forum..

It was my intention to close two of my threads and change my name in the kindest way for all of you...

I commenced this process on the 12th March and today is the first day that I have access to actually post or respond to anyone....I was in the last couple of days able to register a new name and like some posts...

I am so sorry that my profile ended so abruptly that was definitely not my intention....

In fact if I had done it my way.. instead of thinking would be better to be guided through the process....I would have just written on one of my threads my reason for closing my account tagging you all in....then requested account to be closed and username put to bed so to speak

I have chosen to take this path in order to protect my family's sense of safety .. privacy...health..

Please let me reassure you that this has nothing to do with any members on here...

I have tagged each and everyone of you because you have given me support and invited me into a little of your worlds...priceless experiences...I have felt heard and valued on here....Thank you all so much..

Moving forward ...this is who I am now and hope to be able to converse on the forum living in the now not the past...therefore no mention of my previous username necessary...

If you do not know who I am...that is fine also...perhaps all of the above is not relevant for you..

take care

Re: Living with Ourselves

im handling the pain ok, only take pain relief if it gets too sore or can feel it getting abit sore @Sophia1

no thank god for that its my left hand, my right hand is the dominant one. its hard only having one hand though. didnt realise how much i used both hands despite dominant hand.

the first gp i seen (not my reg gp) doesnt know about mh issues nor does the other i seen before i could see my reg gp. shes the only one that knows, the specilast doesnt know either. honestly rather them not otherwise they start treating me differently.

im glad they worked out yuor sis's problem too, its horri having it constantly. in time though, one step at a time things will get sorted hey.

how are you finding the tv show? its one of my favourites but can be triggerring in parts. the books are amazing if you like to read. ?

are you going ok tonight?

sending lots of well wishes and gentle hugs your way

Re: Living with Ourselves

hello @outlander

I dont get notifications via email by choice as I receive so much piffle to wade through and miss out on important emails...

I dont remember seeing this under my name either... however as i said on rave post my head is so very foggy ...

i saw first few episodes ....found it a bit slow...also watching two other dramas at same time which not a good idea...

this new netflix and catch up on iview and sbs gives me far too much choice of stuff that I like..

I saw a catchup programme about a mental health unit in manchester for 13-17year olds...the three main characters allowed their faces and stories to be recorded...two of them really touched me..one with anorexia....so bubbly..high achiever in gymnastics and dancing..many trophies...beautiful face..seeing how she struggled and suffered when told had to eat...went into detail about how she felt..then fluid as would not eat food..eventually sanctioned...heartbreaking to watch...I am sure that she will get there in the end...the other was a 15 year old girl who talked very openly about her OCD...said that she came from a good family...her parents even appeared on the film...they visited her daily when she was first admitted...she expressed the deeper feelings behind OCD and how her every day life is so affected by what we all take for granted..again wont go into detail..do not want to upset or offend anyone...

for me I felt so much for those brave girls who allowed themselves to be filmed as they struggled and felt...talking about their issues and feelings..

I am on merrygoround with medical world since op re my medication..now in process of decreasing,.,increasing elsewhere and eventually wanting to add..not happy...but am in a lot of pain..

I hope that you are having physiotherapy on your hand,,,keep it up until they tell you to stop..

thanks for listening outlander....I now think of the lady playing the part...

Re: Living with Ourselves

Thats alright @Sophia1 💕

They sound like interesting shows. Im glad you enjoyed them though i can imagine they would be hard to watch too. Im watching the handmaids tale on sbs as the episodes come out too. Its good and based on a truestory.

Poor thing tryinv to manage all that pain. I hope each day it becomes a little less painful and more manageable. Gentle hugs

My hands still broken so no physio as yet. Have to wait for all the breaks and joints to heal first.

Im always happy to listen. Anytime you need just give me a shout. I hope tonights not to dreadful for you 💛💚💙💜💖

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hello @outlander

Have you been given an indication of how long your hand will take to heal?

I imagine it takes you longer managing even the simplest of tasks..

are you on painkillers?

I have cut back on another tablet ..was having 2 daily reduced from 4

yesterday had none.today one this evening..pain worse..

I read the book a hand maids tale many years ago....I shall look out for the series..

I am reading a lot mor at the moment..

have 3 books going at the moment..one about carers...another one about having a child or sibling with autism in the family..very good..I shall put the details in the information thread..

I shall read a little more then lights out..

goodnight xx💚🐾🌙

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hi @Sophia1 always nice to see you pop up.

No.. they havent said yet. Still waiting on the break to heal. Possibly 6 weeks for a normal break but cause its broken in the joints it takes longer then need physio. So not exactly sure on the timing. Yes it sure makes life an even more living hell. I only take pain meds if i really need them. Having the new splint on has made it better pain wise so thats a good start.

I cant imagine how much pain your in poor thing. I know youll do what's best re pain meds though and your limits.

The handmaids tale is on sbs on demand and free to join up and watch. Its very intense! But its a good storyline too
I cant read 3 books all at once unless its self help type stuff. I forget alot so i focus on one thing at a time now
Goodnight Sophia sweet dreams

Re: Living with Ourselves

This is a long journey of recovery....made so much more difficult when hand in hand with mental unwellness....my new name for "it" at the moment...

mood swings have been dreadful...

tensions high at home....both of us have had enough....open inspections...preparation a nightmare..

have put off another visitor....odd this person did not call me when I received diagnosis and during those three months waiting for surgery..think now that some people are very uncomfortable with the idea that the big "C" is on the horizon for someone they know...Hurt me though as she was the one person where I live with whom I confided my mental health issues .....she had asked about me several times when not around (in private mental hospital at time)..

so many people had asked husband every time they saw him how I was....not one rang to ask me...only a lady whose husband no longer plays sport due to his own ill health...this lady has cancer and is having treatment....I had visited her..took her some flowers ...when I returned from overseas. Went out for a coffee with her....went out for dinner with both of them....took her to hospital to visit her husband when he had emergency fusion on his back....they came to visit us after his operation...he is doing well...she still has tumour in lung and windpipe but they are not growing or changing...good news for us all...we are in close touch with each other...

another reduction in medication started last night..

I went by ambulance to city private hospital to see a gynaecologist after scare at home..admitted overnight...catch up with gynaecologist in 4 weeks...no procedure as not wanting to interfere with my spine recovery....very happy with that... a young man...very respectful and listened intently to all of my questions and thoughts....

have not had much time to read other posts or respond...

at this stage I think best that I hang here and those who happen to pass by can tell me about themselves if they so choose...I have listed as many as I can think of with this foggy ...all over the place confusion...please do not be offended by order of names...merely those I had responded with of late..

I would love to here from you when you can how you are travelling....just too hard for me to look for you all...please write to me here when you can...appreciate very much your support in advance...here come those dratted tears again......

@outlander @eth @Mazarita @Bunniekins (thinking of you at same time respecting your minimising posts ...just letting you know that I care and wish you all the best) @soul @eudemonism @Former-Member @Owlunar @Appleblossom @Faith-and-Hope @Determined @Former-Member @Shaz51 @Grasshopper3 @Teej @Sans911 @Former-Member @Adge @utopia @Queenie @Zoe7 @Phoenix_Rising @MDT @Former-Member (apologies I think that I left you out before ) @Former-Member

if I remember any more I will add you in another message..

Re: Living with Ourselves

Ooh @Sophia1Not another thing as well as your spine surgery! It is funny about support when sick, it is often not due to one's own need but just what others have available in their tanks ...

Glad you are still checking in here.

Like @outlander I watched the sbs Handmaids Tale, but am ambivalent about watching more, as it is intense. I have to be in the right mood ....

Take Good Care.

Re: Living with Ourselves

hi @Sophia1 theres so much going on for you. i cant imagine how hard all of this is for you.

have you got some in home care to help both you and hubby until you have recovered more?

have you still got supports like your psychologist that can help you with your mh troubles?

im also glad you had a respectful person helping you during your recent hosp. admission and was patient enough to help you through your thoughts and questions.

i hope some of your friends give you a call, i understand not wanting visitors atm but maybe itll be nice to have a short visit here and there?
