Something’s not right

My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

Hi @Wintersweet

Not doing too well here. Am sick with some sort of bug on top of everything else. Managed to get some meds from gp so hoping they help soon. Had to contact LL again.

How are you?

Re: My special place

@Snowie

I’m glad you reached out to LL but sorry things were so rough that you needed to. Being physically unwell makes dealing with everything else so much harder, doesn’t it? Hope the meds from the GP help. Have you been able to rest while you’ve been unwell? I find it really hard when I’m sick and know I need rest as I know I’m also likely to spiral while I’m resting. Any podcasts or audiobooks you’ve been able to listen to?

Re: My special place

Have been trying to rest @Wintersweet but I do agree that having that time to stop can bring up unwanted thoughts/memories. It's hard to find that balance.

I've been listening to an audio book today. It has helped as a distraction to a point. My head has still been very loud.

Have you got any favourite books/podcasts that you listen to? How has your day been?

Re: My special place

@Snowie

It’s so tricky, isn’t it!? And hard when our brains are still so loud even with something else to focus on.

I’ve recently listened to some audiobooks that have been translated from Japanese to English. Mostly compilations of various short stories. Michiko Aoyama is one of the authors. For podcasts, I enjoyed Sherlock and Co. Do you have any podcasts or audiobooks you’d recommend?

My day’s been ok, though I’ve been feeling really unsettled even though things should be ok, and I’ve been procrastinating a bunch and feel bad about that.

Re: My special place

I tried having a nap @Wintersweet but couldn't turn my brain off.

I've never heard of that author. Will have to look into them

I have been listening to a podcast called The Rest is History. It covers everything from ancient empires to modern political crises. I like learning about history. I find it really good to listen too and can get caught up in it.

I get the procrastinating. We can tell others to be gentle with themselves and that perhaps we needed that time to rest, but are so hard on ourselves.

Re: My special place

@Snowie

I’m sorry, it sucks when you try to nap and can’t because of a noisy brain. It’s like the exact opposite of rest!

I think The Rest is History is by the same company that makes Sherlock and Co! Maybe I should give them a listen! I’m glad you have something that can hold your attention and give you a break from everything else. Do you have any historical periods you find especially interesting?

And you make a good point about maybe having needed that time. I should actually probably take some intentional time off work, but again, I know I’ll struggle without the structure/distraction and planning other structure/distraction feels really hard, but maybe necessary.

Re: My special place

I like really any historical periods @Wintersweet they all seem to interest me.

I find having that structure/distraction worthwhile, but you are right in saying that it can be really hard to plan and sometimes even harder to start.

I hope today goes well for you
