My special place

My special place

Well yesterday certainly threw everything off track. But thanks to some very thoughtful and kind people I was able to get threw it and continue.

I cannot say a lot about what happened as I am sure you all understand but need this support in place.

Things WILL be ok, just a lot to work out.

Psych visit yesterday sorted out some of the things and more things will be happening early next week.

I am sorry if I put anyone through any despair, but unfortunately what happened yesterday morning had to be done.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Re: My special place

WOW @Snowie that is all massive - well done on being honest - as trite as this may sound - I am very proud of you. It takes enourmous courage to do what you did today and to realise what is best for you

Maybe tell your kids just a little and judge their reactions before you decide how much more to tell them. I have always found kids understand and empathise more than we usually give them credit for but you know your kids best

I really hope this is the beginning of you starting to improve and a step further towards you being happy - that is all we can ask for in this life - to be happy and healthy

Re: My special place

@Snowiethat was a really intense appt for you and no wonder you need time to gather your thoughts. i know the thought of a hospital admission is scary and not ideal but i think its the help you deserve and need. i am not sure what to tell your kids, perhaps that conversation is one to have with your hubby to agree on.

if you are voluntary then you will be allowed visitation and outings so your kids wont have to see you a hospital ward, and being in normal clothes as well so it wont be completely out of the norm for them. when i went into hospital all they knew was i was there to get some help to get better.

i know this is really really tough for you, but as you have said you dont as well as us here dont want you as a statistic and want you to lead a happy and healthier life too.

please keep reaching out here too, and i hope that youll get the chance to let us know when you go in so we know youll be safe

lots of hugs and sitting with you

Thanks @Former-Member @Shaz51 @Zoe7 @Bunniekins

I have an appt. with my psychologist Wednesday morning. It won't be that soon so am going to speak to him about how to have this discussion with my kids. Hopefully he has some good advice.

And yes a massive day

Re: My special place

Thanks @outlander it is voluntary because I agreed to it. If I had said no, it would have ended up not being my choice

Re: My special place

ok as scary as that is @Snowie which i do understand, i remember my first admission. but it works in your favour being voluntary. you should be allowed out for even an hrs visit, and youll be in normal clothes and if they were to see you in a hospital ward they dont have machines going off, the one i attended reminded me of the way Sans describes her respite place with nurses but rooms and a community space with a fridge etc. hopefully this is giving just a little bit of relief for some of those fears. im happy to answer any questions you may have as well.

Re: My special place

Hi @Snowie , well done on getting through that conversation and speaking so honestly. I'm glad that you are going to be going in order to hopefully help things change and give you a chance to rest as well. Hospital wasn't as scary as i thought it would be and did help me get through and onto meds that did help.
A while ago there was a topic tuesday on what to tell kids about MI, im sure you have a lot to think about tonight but if you wanted you could search it, or i'll find and link, but dont want to overwhelm you either!
I always find being as honest as you can with kids is best but age appropriate too... but tricky and no right or wrong to what to say as well because every child is different and every family. Hugs!
look after you
