Niquas Notes

Niquas Notes

I thought I might try some 'journalling' . Just write a little blurb out each day, basically what I'm already doing . . . just giving it a name . . a title, I suppose? But to give it some 'umph' in my head I'm going to try & remember how to start a new thread & call it 'Niquas Notes' 🙂
It's not even 11.30am & I'm having a tomatoe & onion sandwich for lunch 🙂 I think I've been forgetting to 'get around' to a few meals lately. It's pretty good 🙂
I think I need to go into town today & check the post office, I may have a parcel to collect (evil ebay again!). I might get some meat while I'm in there (probably sausages ;)), I don't think I've had a lot of it lately - though I had Tuna in some fried rice the other night 🙂 Pretty sure I've got a couple of DVDs to collect from the library too 😉 {which means waiting until after 2pm at least as they close from 1-2pm for lunch} Today being Wednesday, it's an off-lead walk day, so I'll take the puppies along & drop into the local Forest on the way back home 🙂 I really enjoy that walk myself, it might be one I've done a million times, but that's sort of part of what I think I really enjoy about it?;)? & of the camp trips, beach walks & places that I have been going to for a little while now - the local 'home' forest walk still gives us the most freedom & me the most confidence 🙂
I think I am recovering from the xmas kerfuffle. I've just polished off a banana, which I would normally have at breakfast, so I've just combined morning & midday meals 😉 & I've got a bottle of water with just a touch of Apple Cider vinegar in it :x I actually quiet like the tang & I do beleive my insides appreciate it 🙂 I've been having quite a few nasty waves of nausea washing over me for a while now.
I need to start 'beating myself up a bit' about the housework! I did get some dishes done before I went away, but there's still a mountain of pots and pans there!! & my mountains of dirty washing are growing death defying peaks!!! I did also get 1/2 the yard mowed, but the other half is overgrown & the 1st 1/2 could do with a trim (00)! & the general clutter continues to compact.
I must look online at what the costs of registering my puppies will be in my council, maybe I can do that while I'm in town? If I got the genny going & started tackling the dirty washing, I could mow my little fella's feet inbetween cycles . . . & then we could go to a favourite 'look-out' spot for a walk 😛 . . . that'd be nice 🙂
Well, by the time I get online, it'll be past Potatoe hour. So I'd better stop blurbing & post 😉
Love to all that need or want it, everything positive gratefully accepted 🙂
❤️

Re: Niquas Notes

I thought I would be so much more devastated than I am. Instead I feel strangely calm. I guess it hasn't sunk in yet. I am totally alone now. My own child was taking advantage of me. Now, I don't have to listen to the whining & I don't have to give them any more money - apart from waiting for them to stop paying the loan, I've decided that's their inheritance, when they stop paying I'll start - $200 a fortnight for the next 8 years. I kind of hope I end before the loan does, because if I end it's totally their responsibility - it's almost a good reason to end.

I should be devastated that my young dog brought down a wallaby & ended it, but again I was strangely calm, I stood over them & felt nothing except maybe pride. I'd like to see a human being bring down a wild animal without weapons, tools or hands. I think it made me feel safer in my own home, maybe not so alone. I'm a little angry with my local council, I was in the official off-lead dog area in town, that has not been mowed to the point the grass can tickle my nose. I was worried about snakes, but what were wallabies doing in there? I think perhaps the animal was already injured, this area is on a corner block, with a highway on one corner & a main road into town on the other; perhaps the animal was already injured, maybe it had been hit on the road. There were 2 of them, one lept up almost vertically before it took off, I think it was trying to draw my dog away from the other. My dog just stood still, maybe it was too sudden, he didn't know what to do; it was then the other moved, it was almost underneath my dog. I don't know if I'm trying to convince myself that he didn't neccessarily end it, or if I'm trying to convince myself that he did. Yet another place I can not take my dogs to walk.

Hi @Former-Member ive just caught up on this thread. I’m so sorry you’ve had such a horrendous time. As far as I can see or know perhaps making a stand will end up being the best thing you can do for your daughter and your relationship but I understand how incredibly painful it would be during the waiting to see what happens next phase. I’d like to hope that maybe she’ll realise that she has taken you for granted and at some point will make steps to reconcile in a healthier way for you both.

As far as the dog situation goes I can understand all your thoughts about this. I think perhaps just acknowledging that it happened and if you would have been able to see that situation first I know you would have stopped it. It sounds like a series of unfortunate events, perhaps just acknowledging that part will help you let go of it. I know what it’s like when they are baiting the forests. It used to put so much fear in me. A friend lost her dog that way. I hope you find somewhere safe to walk them, you so don’t need or deserve this stress as well at the moment.

My heart is breaking for you for the really rough time you are having just now. Thinking of you and sending hugs and crossing fingers something positive comes of it all. 💜🤗

Re: Niquas Notes

Niqua, you may well be going through a grief process. It may have different stages. Strangely calm may be one of them.

With your dog and the wallaby, I tend to think we have creatures as pets but they are always a bit wild at heart. It's their nature. I hope and trust you will find somewhere better to walk them, maybe even going back to the empty property with the dam. You live in the outback. It would not be unusual for a dog to bring down a creature of a wild species. Again, natural for the environment you live in as I see it. Amazing it happened in the actual council approved area. But I know there are other places for you out there.

I too am so sorry you feel so completely alone now. I'm glad you feel that bit safer for seeing what your young dog can do, abilities it would also employ to protect you.

Like @Teej, I am hoping with fingers crossed that, with time, your child will return to you with a greater respect and sense of decency.

Love you, Niqua. @Former-Member
