Daily goals, motivation and check in

Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Note* Ive just started this thread again so it will be visible. Once I deleted my account it no longer shows up.

please join in again if and when needed.

Hi @Shaz51 @Teej @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @eudemonism @TheVorticon

Hope you have some achievable goals for your day.

I am a bit stunned to see that it's half over already!

For me in reverse order:

  • An early night
  • Make dinner and one for tomorrow as school event will go late
  • Clean the bathroom
  • Put groceries away.

I'm thinking maybe that'll do. My days have been too full lately.

@Shaz51 lovely to see you again - how's the new washing machine? Treating you well I hope!

Hi and welcome @Jaz5 this is indeed a handy thread to keep coming back to for ideas and good feelings.

@frog @Faith-and-Hope @Teej @TheVorticon hope your day is going pleasantly for you and you find enjoyment in obtaining any goals you have for today too.

I caught up on heaps of stuff yesterday even though it was in fits and starts, but chores done already, so today I my goal is to put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, not sure yet which will work best, to get a story written.

Had been trying to finish of one of the old ones, but a new collaborative project has been offered for me to join with and I really like the idea. It's set off story concepts writing themselves in my head already.

It's not my usual genre, but is one I have been a collaborator on for some years, so they decided to get me into it from the beginning this time. I'm excited about really feeling like writing again!

@Former-Member happy writing! It's great your chores are out the way and you can do something creative.

Today I have a question.

how do you get motivated when your vulnerabilities are high and everything seems overwhelming?

Having a struggle morning - lack of sleep, mood terrible, weather terrible. Dog is being uncooperative and frustrating me. I’m now whingy whiny and I don’t want to be. Curled up on my bed with tears building and I don’t want to be like this.

When you are down and struggling what do you do?

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

@Teej I'm no help as I do exactly what you are doing. I roll up in a ball, cry and let it pass. But I am sending the warmest wishes I can right now and sitting close if that is helpful.💜💜💜

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

@Teejmy heart goes out to you.

Set small managable goals. Ok first I am going to sit up on the bed. OK now I am going to go make myself a cup of tea. Very small managable, "I did this: goals.

Also, if it is a really bad day then that is ok. Remember it is ok not to be ok. Sometimes we have to realise that we are going to have days where we just need self care and that is enough. If that is curled up in bed crying, then so be it.

Today isn't my best day, I can feel myself sliding down. I set the goal of doing a load of washing and thats it. The rest of the day is self care. I have my cup of tea, my balnket and my dog curled up next to me. Today, that is enough.

I hope this helps in a small way. Hugs and hugs for you

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Hi @Teej .....

OMG that is so close to where I am at this morning ..... perhaps not quite de-railed, but that is because it’s a special day for a couple of my dragons, and I have to do something about that.

Wolfie barked all night .... set the alarm off seeing to him at 4am when I could finally drag myself out of bed and out there (yes, we’re west today) so there is a bug in that at the moment, and we lost anelderly relative on the weekend ......

So. The only thing before my eyes at the moment is getting to my coffee. That means getting dressed. That means walking up the street ..... but walking up the street, or across the house, can amount to the same thing when energy and mood are really low.

But that is three things on my list .... dressed, walk, coffee.

Walk with me @Teej. Get one foot over the side of the bed, then the other, stand and walk to the coffee making spot. Make your first tick happen.

Permission to cry in your coffee .... and I might just cry in mine.

Is the sun shining ? Sit outside with it .... that gives you a tick for Vitamin D (mood enhancer).

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Thanks @Snowie, @Maggie

it kind of helps when you know you are not the only one who does this. I think I’m so over having to have self care days and days like today. I had in my head I shouldn’t be having one because I had a couple last week.

I did try before @Snowie to go outside and have a coffee and play ball with my dog but he is in a mood and just barked at me and then at the neighbours dog and wouldn’t play with me grrrrr. That was enough to tip me over and curl up in a ball. He is now asleep on my bed but that isn’t good for him either as he is a kelpie.

Thank you both, I guess I need to accept this is where I am and hope that I can pull through better as the day goes on.

Hugs returned 💜🤗
