Dialogue with Sane forum Forumites

Hi @chookmojo

When I write : 5 minute space I may have been writing of my own ...... Self ........ I can't take too much in and always need 5 minutes to let my mind re connect with what's happening.

Can't remember everything but that something you are ' diagnosed with' is Autistic spectrum.

But since I've known you, you seem to be highly intelligent .......

I need to just look up something you wrote about your Mum just a tic .....

Re: Dialogue with Sane forum Forumites

Hi @PeppiPatty, hope today is treating you well. 🙂

I was treated by psychiatrists for anxiety and depression from 1990 until 2008. Then the psychiatric view of my diagnosis changed to bipolar. Medication from the first diagnosis was mainly anti-depressants and occasional benzodiazepines at crisis points. The medications changed when I was diagnosed with bipolar, adding first a mood stabiliser and eventually an anti-psychotic. I have never been seen as psychotic but the last med was added in small dose to help with destructive anger issues that flared up in me suddenly at times. I do feel the bipolar medications have helped me find more peace in life, even though I'm still not highly 'functional'.

I do remember that I have been supported by many people in my journey through life so far, and am grateful to all, including everyone on this forum.

My dear dear @maritza

Reading @Appleblossom and @Ace85
Revealing and ...... Fragile messages makes me think that if we all talk about how to get support from the word go .......
We may be able to give ideas to others.

Shall I start ?

What we are all showing others is that from terrible / traumatic childhoods ..... This is how we did it. We need to show others how and what we did to get support.
Maybe it can show others that from nothing..... Others can either : get support from an unusual Pastor
Or..... From a shopkeeper......

Sorry if I miss your name

How are you ?
I've been advised of a wonderful ted talk by a Hungarian Canadian Physican called Gabor Mate on September 14th 1914
Have no idea how to post, can someone ? Can we discuss it ?

When I was 13 years old it was like my mum started hating me. I had my own business selling glass twisted earrings by 14 years old and learning how to blow glass. But I was getting kicked out of home a lot...... I wasn't popular at school and I wagged most of my years at high school. I was shop lifter queen until was caught and I never did it again.

My mum was screaming at me continuously. Then I was hit by a car and ....... I was very ill for a long time. Some very bad things happened to me but like I wrote..before I got the most unusual help.
I think what it was that though I was very ill ...... I didn't want my virginity lost.
My step dad found me and I moved in with him for 2 or three years.
One night at 18 years old I remember still waking up one morning and deciding to get better. I began visiting my old Aunt and going to Art school. I would do things like collapse in classroom or start crying for no reason but o just kept on doggedly going. I was seeing a Psychiatrist and by 19 I lost my virginity .
But I was working at getting these strange friends around me ..... Boy were they strange and I was desperate for a boyfriend. I met my future husband and we decided ..... At 19 years old ...... To begin a two or three year obsession of getting couple counselling. What I remember of these times in couple counselling was how sexist they were. Idea stopped seeing my Psychiatrist because she was very strange about money payment and it annoyed me that she knew I had no support from family except ...this nastiness. .

Re: Dialogue with Sane forum Forumites

My main support was my Art teachers who must have put a blindfold on and decided I had some talent.
I was going to Art School 5 days per week.
At some stage o moved out and my brother moved in with me but he moved on fairly soon. I was pretty out there from these fairly 'strange friends, who were supporting me. My elderly Aunt and ....... These very strange friends who would come over seeing me at a drop of a hat.

Re: Dialogue with Sane forum Forumites

Wow ... you used to blow glass that is cool @PeppiPatty

I like the Gabor Mate talk ...

I was always upset by the idea of a "war" on drugs or a "war" on terrorism ... it just does not address the causes and tends by its hard-line style to worsen the problems.

Dear Anne @PeppiPatty,

It's good to hear more of your earlier life and it makes me happy that you have found help with unusual people. I will respond more but I need to go just now because it's getting late and I need to prepare myself for sleep. Meanwhile, I think I've found the TED Talk you mentioned, in case others are interested too:

Thank you @Maritza !
I can only watch it a little bit at a time but ....so so like it. I heard children in the environment and that the environment shapes their lives
What do you think
Ps
Thanks for posting it !
