Twisted -self care
Every morning I drive east into the sun.
At traffic lights I put sunscreen on the backs of my hands.
This morning I realised that this is self care,
Very rare for me.
I need to do more of this....

Sorry I didn't get back earlier @Catcakes ... things happening ... re the avatar, it's the hanging on for dear life that I so appreciate. I feel like that more days than I don't so I empathise with the poor black kitty.
I dont' actually like cats anymore, too many peeps who don't keep 'em out of my yard and my food planters. GRrrrrrrr.
Diabetic here too, now controlled with food intake. I carefully count carbs and rarely go over the appropriate portion size per meal for me. I still eat cakes and sweets, jams etc, but pretty much only what I make myself and the ingredients are adapted to suit my tastes - most stuff is far, far too sweet.
Have surprised everyone with the research I undertook to manage the disease and then with my diligence to my meal plan (which includes cakes and desserts). I have gone from the gp wanting me on medication (not happening, not taking it, just. not. taking.it.) to getting down below an hba1c of 5 on repeated testings over the past 3 years. I will have my cake!

Best wishes with your situation, I know things are different for everyone. ![]()

It's an awful disease @Catcakes. so sorry about your father, that must have been really difficult to deal iwth for everyone involved. Stress overload, untreated for too many years, is what pushed me into it it seems. I find the pain in my feet keeps me attentive to keeping my carbs under my tolerated 47 per meal every 2 to 4 hours, but no longer than 6 hours or other things get wonky. Sigh, it's a constant, isnt' it.
Very cute nickname. The parents would not allow nicknames, visited the school when someone and I decided on how we could shorten my name. How embarrassing that was. their idea was that they gave me (all of us) this name and that was what I would be called, end of story. Well, I fixed that some years ago, changed my whole name, first, last and middle.
I hope today is a better day for us all, thank you for your kindnesses yesterday. Appreciated, very much.
