Twisted -self care

Twisted -self care

Every morning I drive east into the sun.
At traffic lights I put sunscreen on the backs of my hands.
This morning I realised that this is self care,
Very rare for me.
I need to do more of this....

Re: Twisted -self care

My home is my haven,
I feel comfortable , sometimes even relaxed.
Only people I’m secure with come inside my home.
But people knock on the door and try to sell me pest control, sell me Jesus , try to buy my home even.... go away, I did not say you could knock on my door.
Unwanted intrusions, just occasionally someone wants to visit.....
I feel rude, I know socialising is healthy,
But it makes me squirm, the back of my neck runs with sweat, my toes twitch up and down.
Should I let them come ?
🙆‍♀️

You can put up signs on your front gate, febce or letterbox saying “No hawkers, religions, sales agents please” and see how that goes.

I find it intrusive too @Catcakes, and telemarketing calls too.

Maybe I hid my true concern in amongst the prose @Faith-and-Hope.
Someone is dropping in to visit today and it’s got my uncomfortable feelings in the chest going.

Re: Twisted -self care

Oh dear @Catcakes ......

I assume you don’t want to tell them not to come ?

How can you distract yourself ?

Prepare as well as you can but make sure it is in fact all about you ..... anything you are serving, prepare as if you are serving to yourself, and then sharing some with them.

Wear something that is self-soothing in some way ..... your favourite colour maybe, or a favourite piece of clothing ......

Maybe put a favourite flower from the garden into a glass on your kitchen windowsill where you can see it ?

Wear your favourite perfume ?

Did you follow the bouncing ball @Appleblossom?
How was your street opera?

Re: Twisted -self care

Hi @Catcakes Not sure about bouncing ball, but I got your tag ...

Street Opera was very good to be part of. Last night a new friend that I met there was talking about a movie they are making of it in order to get more funding to put it on again. So it seems to have passed on lots of levels.

That friend I saw in another operatic adventure in January, has now joined one of my choirs and is really pleased with her decision.

She also saw me on Sunday on the radio concert.

I sing like a maniac, a mad woman, my appetite for it is not natural, but at least I get to hang out in projects with lots of interesting orchestras and musicians.

In that sense I am really lucky or I have worked really hard to be able to squeeze it all in.

Are you planning to do anything musical ? Howz life anyway?

Re: Twisted -self care

Glad the opera went well. Funny you should ask, I emailed the contact person of a local choir and I should have gone tonight but couldn’t bring myself to go.
Life pretty tricky at the moment. Apart from looking after my own MH I care for my elderly Mum and to a lesser extent for my partner.
On a good note I’ve been helping my son prepare for an audition for a play. He’s pretty keen, he wrote his stage resume last night. 🤞
Maybe one day I’ll get to choir...

Re: Twisted -self care

Glad to hear about your son's interest. Its great when we can get involved.

When you are ready check out the choir. Starting can be the big thing, but once the music started to move you, you will appreciate it.
