Falling apart

Falling apart

I have just discovered this forum and am hoping that i can find some people who have simillar experiences as myself.

4 weeks ago my then partner decided to end our relationship, he suffers PTSD which has turned into somewhat chronic depression.

He asked that i remain his friend as he feels as though if i didnt he would have no body.

I am upholding his request and trying to support him the best that i can. He has not done anything to hurt me in anyway and he believes that ending the relationship is better for me then me continuing to live alongside him and his depression. He feels he is not worthy of somebody doing that.

He has expressed alot more since we have seperated about his feelings towards different things that have happened throughout his life and i guess as such contributed to how he feels today.

Taking out the relationship and looking at this as even just a friend, sometimes it is very difficult. I dont know what to say or do to some of the feelings he tells me.

I am new to this forum its my first post. I am unsure how much information to give, but i am hoping there is somebody out there who has some words of support or wisdom for me.

Thanks in advance

Re: Falling apart

Dear @dands26

It's grea that at least you are able to write down self care plans.

Which state do you live in? I live in Western Australia. I do go down the beach every day but it can be stressful because of my daily wellbeing.

I personally like mindfullness meditation: I started with Jon Kabat Zinn: "Wherever You Go there you are," and the other one that you played.

The first meditation I ever did is here: https://youtu.be/7Ap_-F9D5Gw

But it goes for 6 hours .......it is nice: Very nice just to listen to.........

I live in queensland @PeppiPatty
I will have a listen to that one also 🙂
I am still learning self - care
Learning what to do
Apologise for everything
Does it get easier?

Re: Falling apart

Does it get easier?

Um......

It gets easier in that the routine gets into a swing and you relax in the routine.

Timetables are so important in mine and Mr g's life.

Does is get easier?

My love for Mr g is more grounded.

We have had huge highs and huge lows: things that most people would have walked away from and right now; today; I was thinking that it would be very easy to walk away and I would have a great story of why I walked away.

But

Short term/ exciting high feelings of excitement love are not for me. Mr g works so so hard every day to be with me and I'm always working at being kind. Who would want to throw that away?

So:

Patience.

Being quiet at times for the other to work out stuff.

At the end of the day: not going to bed with huge apologies and reflecting on the GOOD as well and the bad.

Writing a timetable for tomorrow/ letting him do it is good.

Remembering that every day; MI means that the sufferer wakes up with their condition.

Does it get easier?

Yes.

If you keep up your self care.

Re: Falling apart

Thankyou @PeppiPatty

I needed to hear that right now, gives me hope...

Even gp wondered yesterday why I was hanging on so tight, caused me to doubt myself so your message came at the right time.

Self care is the key, I have not done real self care for too long,

I am here, I can read what you are both doing.

Mental health is a journey that no one can predict. A Psychotherapist Called R.D Laing used to say that ..... on a graph.: on the wall : ....normal people have lives that are drawn or graphed that go up and down. People like Schizophrenics who he worked with have far more interesting lives because their lives on a life long graph would be drawn on a slant.

When I first started seeing Mr G, I took him to meet my Psychotherapist, someone I would see because my youngest son was suffering a brain tumour and my Mum is such a bad Mother. When I was going through the beginning of seeing Mr G, even my Psychotherapist, my most trusted 'Mother,' and someone who I LOVE would say to me.....'Are you SURE that this is the one for you? I mean, Mr G is a beautiful lovely highly intelligent man but he's gone to PRISON or he's gotten out of PRISON and he is using DRUGS....I would stare at her blankly and say......he will be fine. He loves me he will quit it all.

And he did.

I think that every situation is very different and if you look deep in your heart......you YOU GET the proper support and the proper SELF CARE..... you will work out your own life.

I certainly didnt get support from my family, Actually not at all. I got support from seeing a therapist.....a GP, a pastor, wherever I worked hard and found support, and either paid for it or worked HARD to get it.....is where I got it. I get self care support from my Silver Chain lady, After a long time of circling each other, we now meditate twice per week.

I have some friends I can tell whatever to. It took a lot of really hard work, they are definately not your usual type of people but I had to work hard and be very positive to have what I've got now.

I still work very hard for what I've got and I know how hard it is, lets do it together ........

This is a picture I drew for my Mum of her dog......
