Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away: No responses please

Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away: No responses please

Got something that's bugging you?

Want to vent, but don't want a response?

Sometimes our minds can get stuck in circles trying to sort out an issue. This can keep you up at night, or make it hard to focus on other things. I find that putting things away, and not thinking about it temporarily can be helpful.

This is the place to get it out, and then give yourself permission to let it go.

Maybe you will need to get back to it some other time, but this is space where you can put it in a place so that you can leave it for some time and (try) not to worry about it in the mean time.

It's a thread where people don't need to reply, it purely just to get it out your worry and concerns.

If you want to show your support for someone, hit the 'like' button. In this thread, 'like' doesn't mean that you 'like' someone's issue, but you support them in letting it out.

So write down your concerns, put it in a vault, shut the door, and allow yourself to walk away from it.

Pls note: If you are reading other people's posts, please respect that they don't want a response. Show your support by 'Liking' their post.

Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away

My Mum has had chronic anxiety for her entire life (she's in her 70's).

There has never been any acknowledgement from her that her reactions are out of proportion to the event (or happening).

This has affected everyone around her (the entire family), like "walking on egg-shells" trying not to upset her...

My 4 younger siblings all have major Depression, PTSD, & other MI issues - yet none of them will admit it, even when diagnosed.

They all say that I'm the only one with MI issues (blame & denial) - just because I own the fact that I have Complex PTSD, & have had for a very long time.

Yet my Psychologist & other professionals believe that I am by far the most functional & well-adjusted, of my entire family.

This doesn't console me very much, when dealing with my interstate family members. They are manipulative, inconsiderate, harsh, & unsupportive.

I feel dragged down & terribly drained, from every phone call with Mum - in fact it wipes me out for hours, or for the rest of the day.

I had two of those phone calls this afternoon.

Thanks @Former-Member You didn't tag me, so I did not see your response until just now.

That's helpful to hear that you experience similar, even though I would not wish that for you...

Yes, my Mum has always played on leaving me feeling guilty.

So it's been very difficult to maintain healthy boundaries with her.

Our old friend M who used to pop into my Grief & loss thread, has a new name now (I just discovered)...

Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away

Parents can be ambiguous in their dealings with their off-spring and is it done out of spiteful disregard or not? I had a sweet and caring mother who left this world too young. Friends, particularly on this forum can be of morale boosting help and I hope @Adge that you find this to be the case. May your friends give you the support you need and thanks for being such a caring person yourself on this invaluable forum. Best wishes - Bimby2

Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away

Yep @Adge, its very hard to detach from guilt with Complex PTSD, my mother died leaving me with many mixed feelings. I hope M is going ok, i think she's having surgery or aomwthing (i shamefully forget everyone's details a lot ) but @ Sophi1 will do her proud too i'm sure.

Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away

Thanks @Bimby2 I appreciate it, you are kind.

Yes @Former-Member, people who deliberately provoke guilt (to control others), when there is nothing to feel guilty about - are not nice people.

Yes it was a major surgery of some sort that @Sophia1 (M) said she was having. She's offline for awhile (she said).

It's always good to see you around lapses.

I don't understand. I thought this was a thread where people post things without getting replies. That is what a moderator told me up top 👆
