I feel...

I feel...

I feel desperately lonely yet, I feel like I don't belong anywhere. I don't belong in the 'Normal' world because I am tarred with the brush of mental ill health, yet because I've sort of stabilised now, I don't belong with my former peers either. I feel beige, uncoloured and boring with no emotion really even though if I had to say anything it is gutted. I feel trapped in a world I don't want and didn't ask for, yet whenever I try and break the shackles of failure, I am thrust back into the dark and reminded yet again of my failures (my Father is a constant person to remind me). I feel alone, even in a crowded room. I feel unheard, even if I am screaming loudly.

I guess I am just searching for something and not sure what.

Does anyone else feel beige?

Re: I feel...

yep thats the only annoying part- the adds @Queenie if it happens again though maybe head back to your safe songs on your ipod/phone

orange is better than red- i think the stress of respite and oragnising and finances were stressing you out more and now that its settled you can at least hold on until then

Re: I feel...

I've been doing things to prepare for my course starting on the 22nd. I am really looking forward to the mental health subjects, as I think someone with a lived experience can really bring something others can't to the table. I don't know where to go to do student placement yet. I want to go on to study social work remember, hopefully specialising in mental health.

Perhaps I could do placement in something to do with mental health? I thought about doing placement with a clubhouse... are you familiar with clubhouses @outlander @Former-Member @Bunniekins? It is a social and vocational rehabilitation place for people with mh issues. It is run by peers for peers. Many years ago I used to be a member of a Clubhouse and found it really beneficial to help me get back to some level or normality after being in hospital. They have them in the city here, but I am yet to make contact with any of them.

@outlander are you okay?

Re: I feel...

Hey @outlander and @Bunniekins.

Clubhouses are different from GROW. GROW is a program for recovery whereas clubhouses do not focus on disability, rather ability and aim to get people back to living fulfilling lives and even working and living independently. Usually, a clubhouse has an office run by a mixture of staff and members and a kitchen/cafe run by a mixture of staff and members. They put on a lunch, prepared and served by members which is a healthy low cost alternative to people attending the clubhouse. They also run social groups like outings, movie nights etc again, by members and for members. The initiative started in New York and has spread throughout the world. I'm thinking of doing my vocational placement with the one in my city, as I am familiar with their program and could easily get there and other places they go no problem.

Re: I feel...

@Queenie Sounds great. A very positive move for you. You sounds very upbeat Queenie. Should you hide your credit cards?

Re: I feel...

I'm not that upbeat @Bunniekins, so don't worry, the credit cards are safe. 🙂

This is the phase called 'Faking It Til You Make It'. I loathe that term, but if I pretend everything is ok, then perhaps I won't feel so bad? Just a weird thought is all. It started because my dear cousin called me upset today and actually asked for my advice. It threw me as I realised here she was actually holding onto what I was saying. I don't really know how or why but it pulled me back from the cliff edge so to speak. I am indebted to her and she doesn't even know it and probably never will.
