Hi @Former-Member, I can approach either my GP or my psychiatrist about the medication. My psychiatrist noticed it is a toxic level (so it has to be lowered anyway), but I am finding all my psychotic and mood symptoms are coming back too. I need a long appointment to discuss options. Whether we persevere with this medication at a much lower dose, or we switch to another medication entirely. I don't see my psychiatrist all that regularly (only every 3-4 months). He has heard about my mania but is yet to witness it first hand. The depressive side of things he knows all too well (I've had treatments with ECT in the past for a depressive episode with a lot of success).
I am actually kind of proud of myself, in that all that has been happening of late with me, I still managed to make a few phone calls and sort out a medical appointment, respite plus some stuff for my course (Centrelink stuff). I kind of surprised myself, that as low as I feel, I managed it because I forced myself to do it. I realised I cannot rely on others for my mental health, I have to do it myself (and I did). It did give me a sense of accomplishment because not only did I do my Centrelink paperwork, I helped my Mrs fill out hers as well.
Tomorrow I'll be up with the birds as I am travelling interstate to a Buddhist gardens. I am looking forward to experiencing some of the serenity I'm told can be found there. Then I am staying at my cousin's house for the night (with my Mrs) just to have a girly time. I am also looking forward to that. She knows I have schizoaffective disorder, but doesn't judge me (unlike the rest of my family) and sees me as a pretty normal person really. I like that in her. She knows I am having a bad time lately and wanted to do something to take me away from all the hustle and bustle of my life... bless her.
The teenagers are coming again this weekend and next week will be the week from hell. I tried to talk to my Mrs about the amount of expensive places they are being taken during that week (a theme park, shopping mall, the movies, the cricket etc). It's nuts! I did remind her that she should span these things out rather than cram them all into one week and she shouldn't feel the need to impress the children. She got angry at me for it. Oh well, at least I got my point across.
