Re: RE: Darkness surrounds me

Thanks @Shaz51. It is a fine line about when I can take them, how many and how I feel the next day. Even more so important now that I have to get up and drive the kids to school. So trial and error atm.

How has your day been?

Re: RE: Darkness surrounds me

@Shaz51I took them about 10:30pm last night. My pdoc increased them yesterday. So I think I need to maybe take them a bit earlier to be ok in the morning to drive. Will just see how I go again tonight.

Wow you have had a busy day today. I hope Mr Shaz went ok. Would have been uncomfortable to get that done.

Re: RE: Darkness surrounds me

@Shaz51yea I think I need to try them earlier and see how I go tomorrow morning. Normally lights are out by 9pm on a school night so asleep by 9:30pm. I don't like taking them unless they are alseep of course.

@Former-Member @Shaz51 - the sleeping tablets I'm on now let me slide into a nice easy sleep. I take mine between 8-8:30,very occasionally a bit later at 9pm. They take about an hour or so to work, and I sleep until about 5-5:30. I always get woken by the cat biting me for his breakfast. I guess I have the luxury of getting a coffee and going back for a further doze of an hour. I wake most mornings without tiredness (that I do have anyway from my depression), grogginess or hangover.

Re: RE: Darkness surrounds me

@Sans911I am glad you finally have some sleeping tablets that help you sleep. Can I ask if it keeps away the nightmares?

I have been on the same few sleeping tablets at night for awhile, just trying different combinations and strengths. Most important is now that the kids are back at school I need to drive in the morning. I am going to try them earlier tonight and see how they go. The pdoc is thinking of adding another one in to help with the intensity of my nightmares because that is where I come un done alot. I also don't know if the tiredness is the meds or the depression. But the last thing I want is to have a nightmare and not wake up. so be stuck in it if that makes sense. I am scared of that happening.

My day meds have just been increased again so have to wait awhile to see if that helps.

Re: RE: Darkness surrounds me

@Former-Member - no, the sleeping tablets I'm on are actually low dose antipyschotics, but they have a drowsy, relaxant effect. I don't get that many nightmares and flashbacks, however, that might change when I delve into the deeper stuff I'm therapy. That's what happened before. But they've put me on a medication that's actually for lowering blood pressure but also helps with flashbacks/nightmares. And I actually haven't had any since I've been on them. Although I can't name these meds, Ive tried to explain what they are and perhaps if you wanted to explore them at all, your pdoc could probably put the clues together. It took me lots of trials of medications over almost 2years before I finally believe what I'm on is hoping and I have minimal to no side effects. I'm not saying you'll be the same but meds are very individualised and getting the right med, right dose, minimal side effects is tricky.
