Re: RE: Darkness surrounds me
I'm sorry for you that you have these levels if distress & there's no answer of how to get through those times. I just hope that in time things get easier for you, and you feel less distressed.
Hugs and hugs

Re: RE: Darkness surrounds me
@Sans911I just hate it when they (doctor, pdoc, etc) use the "but you have kids" line. Well no sh*t, I know I have them, but it doesn't make it any easier than someone without them. Its like they use it to try and give me a guilt trip. I feel guilty enough without thinking about them. I just HATE that line.

Re: RE: Darkness surrounds me
@Sans911it just makes me feel worse about myself and yes very condescending. What they fail to realise is that it doesn't stop me, I just feel worse so do more to myself.

Sometimes I think they don't know what to say and say the first thing that comes into their head ..... they are human after all, even if at times they don't act like it.
Feeling for you @Former-Member ...... 💜💜💜

Re: RE: Darkness surrounds me
@Faith-and-Hopethat would not be helpful at all...
My pdoc (psychiatrist) has no bedside manner at all. Think he missed that week at uni!!

Perhaps people of a certain nature are drawn to the profession @Former-Member @Sans911 ..... as it is a very clinical, scientific field from what I understand ..... maybe they’re not so much “people” people, speaking generally of course. I haven’t had a lot to do with them, at this stage.
Is your psychologist more relatable ?
Have either of you found this ?
I’m on a steep learning curve.

Re: RE: Darkness surrounds me
@Faith-and-Hopeive found this. i find it in not just mh professions but other professions too
nurses are generally those compassionate and caring people
psychologists and Gps- problem solvers (however alot are just in it for the money)
banks- interested in finance and mathematical things not so much people skills
psychiatrists- i often wonder about them. they are smart in diagnoses and medications and dosages but dont really know how to handle people and manners etc

Re: RE: Darkness surrounds me
@Faith-and-Hope
I find my GP useless. I only use her for work cover purposes and tell her very little.
I find my pychiatrist not much better. He knows more about what is happening but havent told him anything about my SI. My psych has been trying to contact him with no luck. Sent email, fax and rang and no response.
My psychologist is a lot more helpful and understanding. At this stage I have to check in with him everyday just so he knows I am still alive with all my risk taking behaviour and SH. I know he feels frustrated that the pdoc is not helping as much as he could. Pretty much told me that.

Do you have the option of changing your pdoc and gp @Former-Member ?
Trying to put together a team of people you feel comfortable with and who you feel are truly supportive of you ?
