The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Following on from the outstanding success of "The Great Yoga Adventure Thread", here begins one that may appeal to a larger sector of the Sane Forum population. Although I have started it in the Lived Experience side, anyone is welcome to join us as we put one foot in front of the other and walk to improve our mental and physical wellbeing.

I hope you will accompany me. Here we can talk about how, when, where and why we walk. It's a place to discuss our progress and share what we see along the way.

Walking is my thing. I love it. I do it in several ways. During the weekdays, I get up early and take a brisk walk usually stopping in along the way at the supermarket to pick up some groceries. Around mid morning, I take my dog for a stroll. Then late afternoon, I walk to and from a yoga session. Lastly, at night, it's another walk for the pooch.

On weekends, I like to go a bit further afield and discover new stuff. I often take photos as well during these walks.

I use an App on my phone called Pacer which monitors the distance and steps that I walk. I do a minimum of 10 000 steps each day. Some of you may be more high tech and have a Fitbit or equivalent.

7,726 steps today didn't make double digits but it's the effort.

1742 steps today. Improvement on yesterday lol
Really need to get back into some walking, feeling so flat and lethargic at the moment. Hoping some exercise may help if I can find the energy and motivation to start .

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Upgrade that to 1896 steps after finally getting the kidlets tucked in to bed.
Going to try for 5000 tomorrow and upgrade from there.

@Faith-and-Hope@soul@Determined@Shaz51@Former-Member I forgot to attach myself to my counter today, might be for the best, some gardening done but not many steps. You can't win um all.

Not sure of the steps, as I forgot to put my fitbit on, but I managed a 20min walk to the post office and library & a 20min walk home with a gentle hill added for effort. And the walk was an effort, but I am glad I did it.

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

A mostly crashed out day today, walking probably numbered only a few hundred steps. Waiting on my wrist monitor to arrive from ebay. It's a cheap version of fitbit. Has to be connected up by bluetooth to my mobile. Hope that's easy to do and it all works this time. I'm curious to know a little more precisely how many steps I'm taking. Either way, I have appointments tomorrow so there will be a bit more walking for that. Congratulations to everyone walking more than I am! Tomorrow is a new day, for those who aren't.
