The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Following on from the outstanding success of "The Great Yoga Adventure Thread", here begins one that may appeal to a larger sector of the Sane Forum population. Although I have started it in the Lived Experience side, anyone is welcome to join us as we put one foot in front of the other and walk to improve our mental and physical wellbeing.

I hope you will accompany me. Here we can talk about how, when, where and why we walk. It's a place to discuss our progress and share what we see along the way.

Walking is my thing. I love it. I do it in several ways. During the weekdays, I get up early and take a brisk walk usually stopping in along the way at the supermarket to pick up some groceries. Around mid morning, I take my dog for a stroll. Then late afternoon, I walk to and from a yoga session. Lastly, at night, it's another walk for the pooch.

On weekends, I like to go a bit further afield and discover new stuff. I often take photos as well during these walks.

I use an App on my phone called Pacer which monitors the distance and steps that I walk. I do a minimum of 10 000 steps each day. Some of you may be more high tech and have a Fitbit or equivalent.

@soul unfortunately not, it's been not only raining, but wild, gusty winds. And I had 2hours of appointments this afternoon. Let's see tommorow

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Congrats all round for today's efforts, everyone, regardless of how fruitful. I was very tired today after yesterday, almost to the point of being a bit shell shocked. But I made it to laughter yoga and that was enjoyable and energising. Still I couldn't manage a beach walk, but did walk around the local shopping centre a fair distance, probably about 1.5km. Walking is wonderful, even if we need less strenuous days too.

Didn't have a very good day but still did 15,153 steps.

@Hope that's 15,000 steps more than me. Well done. It's really gusty and raining here, and I'm too exhausted to walk. I will see what tommorow is like

Hi @Former-Member, impressive to me that you could do that much walking on a bad day, way to go.

My big day a couple past, seems to have flared up my arthritis and tendonitis. I will need to be careful of legs at the moment so the inflammation doesn't get worse. In any case, I probably walked about 1km today. Might do better tomorrow.

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

@Sans911@soul@Faith-and-Hope@Mazarita@Former-Member It's a bit embarrassing putting in my steps, but today so far 2950, nothing like you guys, I'm impressed and exhausted on your behalf, but I'm walking, that has to be a positive.....I think.

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Absolutely @Maggie .....❣️

That's somewhere around my coffee shop walk ..... I just tend to go by the km measure instead of steps.
