Re: not coping

At this stage I have my gp who checks in on me once a week, my psychologistt does the same and I am keeping in contact with my psychiatrist re meds. I don't know much about support workers. I have only ever heard about them from this forum as a few talk about them but not sure how it all works but I guess I could talk to my psych about it. Thanks for the idea. I did a couple courses just after getting out of hospital last time. CBT and mindfulness. CBT seemed to help me a little but at this stage not sure I have the capacity to do any of that especially because they are an all day course.
im not too knowledgeable about the CAT team. I have witnessed them in action once with mum and they basically took her away and threw her into hospital when I was a kid. I was under the impression that was their job. To take you against your will and under your psychologists instruction.

Re: not coping

Im glad your gp and psych checks in with you @Lee82
I dont have a support worker myself but @Snowie @Sans911 @Bunniekins @eth im sure does and could possibly share their experiences and how it works with you.
Has anyone mentioned DBT before? Its most commonly for those with BPD but its become very popular for those with other mh conditions as well. They arent day courses, more a an hour or few hours once a week ongoing till youve completed the course.
No, not always with the CATT team, if you are in immediate danger to yourself or those around you ie thretening to harm yourself or others then yes they will put you in hospital as involuntary but they do more. I actually rang the team in my state on myself about a year ago and they just spoke to me about things what might help (ao their suggestions) and how i could access it as well. They are trained psych teams as well.

Re: not coping

What does DBT stand for?have you done the course? Did it help you?
I would like to know more about support workers if anyone could help with that. That would be wonderful.
I will research DBT online and check it out. 💗
thank you for clearing up my understanding of the CATT team that is a great help.
how you doing at the moment @outlander ?

Re: not coping

Dbt stands for dialectable (think thats how you spell it 😬) behaviour therapy @Lee82 its focus is on distress tolerance skills mostly but has other things as well but i cant remember all the modules. Youd be able to find those online though im sure. I havent done the course myself but i know others here have and have found it quite beneficial.

Im ok i guess, not feeling all that great so taken some pain meds to see if itll help bit or at least enough to sleep for a few hours.

Re: not coping

I just had a little read online about DBT. It sound quite interesting. I'm wondering why my psych hasn't suggested it before. My psychiatrist has suggested TMS therapy but I don't know enough about it or anyone who has done it before.
I hope the pain meds help @outlander and you are able to find some sort of rest sweetie

Hi @Bunniekins how you doing this evening/morning?

Re: not coping

Im not sure why she hasnt mentioned it @Lee82 it may be because its more well known for bpd treatment. You could always mention it to her and the support worker and see what she says.
Im not sure bout TMS i havent done it and cant think of anyone who may have atm though im sure many have.
Pain meds didnt help its just causing a burning sensations instead. Cant seem to win lately but i need to be up in just over 6 hours so im going to need to try for some sleep hopefully soon if my body will allow 🤦‍♀️
