Re: not coping

That sounds like a wonderful idea @outlander I think you would make an amazing counsellor hon, especially since you have a lived experience.

Re: not coping

it is an option @Snowie but i also currently enjoy my job as a support worker so im trying to see what i can do in a career form to sort of make it abit of both worlds. i havent decided yet as its to much at the moment. i need to try and take one step at a time starting with permanent placement then a new home and then i can commit more to stuff

Re: not coping

It's a tough time for many @outlander . I'm glad to hear you have some work over the next few weeks. I'm sure you have been such an asset to the company.

There's so much work out there for support workers. With your experience, care and expertise, I'm sure you'll find something.

Re: not coping

Your right, you don't have to decide now @outlander There is always time for things down the track anyway. Hopefully work will sort itself out and one less thing you have to worry about.

Re: not coping

im still going to be keeping in touch with the current boss @tyme justwont be working for her anymore once closed. i have a job interview next week. they know my current boss as well so they are aware that my short time with the company isnt through my fault so at least thats a good thing.

who knows maybe when pops in a home i may not even want to do disability for a while. but i doubt ill ever give up helping people. i do like the idea of helping carers more though. being a carer where i am there is so little help and resources especially for younger carer like me and support workers as well that are struggling with their role. id like to help them more @Snowie

Re: not coping

Hi @outlander ,

Fair enough. It's hard getting work at this time of the year because services are getting ready to close for a break. I'm glad you have an interview lined up. I didn't know your pop was still with you and not in a home? That must be hard.

Re: not coping

he was only there for respite @tyme but it actualyl went really well and is asking to go back which is unexpected! hopefully next year there will be a placement.

i can get some extra work with the old workplace but its so toxic it really would be a last resort but maybe over christmas it might help to take a shift here and there just till i find something more secure

Re: not coping

That's great that he is asking to go back @outlander ! Take that while you can!

I somehow feel that things will eventually fall in place for you. You have such as big heart for everyone. The universe will surely take care of you even if it doesn't feel like it right now.

How's your recovery going?

Re: not coping

@tyme it is a good sign if the family ever stop feuding over it. always arguments over something.

recovery is going ok. it was really rough to start with and ended up with a staph infection but thankfully the antibiotics seem to have worked and now things are healing more. the original treatment seems to have helped as well.
