Re: not coping

the hospital should also be able to arrange a social worker while your being checked over to care for them @Kyle1

Re: not coping

Perhaps call uber, or ambulance even @Kyle1? The kids can come with you to the hospital, where I'm sure a nurse or admin staff can keep an eye on them. I've seen kids in the ED plenty of times. Your health is highest priority, and concussions can be really, really serious.

Re: not coping

@outlander, I hope the 4-5 hours fly by. You’re more than halfway through, and you’ve made it, it just shows how strong you are despite everything 💖

@Kyle1, I think a hospital visit might be worth it, concussions need attention. Do you have anyone you can ask to look after the kids? Trying the respect line sounds like a good idea, they have nice counsellors on it

Re: not coping

i keep going on and on @creative_writer its a stupid habit but i need the $ its worse when i have pop in here with me because sometimes the participants are irritated and enough to manage let alone having another person to care for in here

Re: not coping

@outlander, living costs have gone up so it makes sense that you need $. I don’t think I’ve asked you, do you have regular contact with supports on your journey with MH?

Re: not coping

the only support i have is my psych @creative_writer i see her every 2-3 weeks but sometimes need to space it out to 4 weeks.
i also require some monthly injections so i have 2 hours with a nurse as well but we dont really talk about mh just life really.

Re: not coping

@outlander, that’s still quite a bit of time in between appointments. I see my psych monthly too, though I believe I have only two session left for this year, gotta thank Medicare for that 😢. They have guided service, don’t know if you’re eligible, I found it helpful, but no longer on it anymore. Getting the supports you need can be hard and expensive

Re: not coping

im lucky in that my insurance will cover some of the cost for a couple of sessions after medicare has run out @creative_writer but apart from that im on my own.
im looking into getting a support worker once a month or seeing if the nurse i use for medical treatment would be willing to do some support working for me as im already comfortable with her

Re: not coping

@outlander, I believe I would have to upgrade my insurance for it to cover part of the cost of therapy sessions. I hope you are able to get more support, MH is a real struggle. I am grateful that I have a MH nurse who I just started seeing, even if it’s only once a month. Then I also have my pdoc, he’s been monitoring my meds, I’ve had flare ups this year. I was meant to have an appointment yesterday but he was sick, so now put on cancellation list. Things got super bad yesterday, I got out of it after taking PRN and sleeping, but it’s not a good thing to experience high energy state with depressive symptoms and having to take PRN so often

Re: not coping

my insurance is already sort of at the maximum anyway. i think i can only go one more level up because i use it to cover medical treatments for chronic pain and hospital requirements etc so im already on the required level. i can also do mental health self help courses through a few specifc places (such as mindspot i believe) and actually claim back my course fee.

i might have to enquire about a mh nurse or something that i can access through the public system. i dont have a psychiatrist because i dont have mh meds. im on one for anxiety that my dr prescribes and sometimes it helps but other times i could really use a prn but because of the meds im on for migraines and stuff it already makes me quite fatigued so its abit risky getting more meds that will fatigue me more.
