Re: not coping

yes, @creative_writer It's not OK, and I have been scared all day.

This is the 2nd relationship where this has happened to me. I must be doing something wrong...or am just that STUPID

I just don't know who to ask... @outlander

And the police didn't offer any resources either. I'm guessing if I were a woman victim it may be different? Maybe police aren't used to men being beaten by women?..

Re: not coping

the clients in here as much as they cant help have some irritating habits that i just am not tolerating that well. ones walking around the house farting, the other 2 are belching as loud as possible, and banging on everything. its echoing the through the house so it makes you jump and because its a habit of a client you cant tell them to stop otherwise it causes other behaviours @creative_writer all the noise in here today is just overwhelming. the earliest someone will replace me is the normal time if they are actually on time this time cause usually they are late. glad i have 2 days without a shift but im still working on those days off

Re: not coping

@Kyle1that is appalling. they really should have been more supportive of you. i would be going back and asking to speak to someone, report it. they should have a welfare officer or social worker on site or be able to link you in with someone.

is theres another police station i would try that one instead. clearly there are still so many gaps in the system and to many are falling through the cracks.

do you have any friends or family members you can speak to?
are you safe in your home?

the service i have linked offers free support including if you want to stay anonymous to those who are victims of any sort of violence. please reach out to them as well.

Re: not coping

also just to add @Kyle1 you are not stupid. the abuser is the one who wants you to think that when its the opposite, their actions are not a result of something you did, its a result of their inability to do the right thing and manipulates those around them to think they are the ones in the right

Re: not coping

@Kyle1 absolutely agree with others here - it is not your fault. NO ONE deserves to experience violence, and nothing you've done puts you at fault here.

It's okay to feel scared, I'm not surprised at all. You are likely still in shock. I reckon give Mensline a call if you're up to it.

Re: not coping

@Kyle1, that is not a helpful response , regardless of your gender, it is still physical assault at the end of the day and is equally valid. I know it’s hard not to blame yourself, but it’s all on the abuser. As @outlander said, abuser often try to get away by twisting their words. I hope you were able to get medical attention for your injuries.

@outlander, I hope you are able to take some time to breathe during your shift. It’s good that you have time off to recover. How long do you have to go?

Re: not coping

@outlander I've been in touch with health direct. The nurse there thinks I may have concussion and advised me to hospital. But I don't feel able to drive, and I can't leave my children home alone. It just adds more anxiety to my s**t show...

I will try the respect line. Thank you 🙏

Re: not coping

@Kyle1 do you have someone to look after the kids? if you have a concussion it would inhibit your reactions if the kids needed you. can you call someone you trust to come and look after them? a friend? a family member? a neighbour even? you can call an ambulance and they can take you to hospital and provide patient transport back home so you dont need to worry about driving
