Re: not coping

its ok @Captain24 its just hard when theres no family or friend supports to utilise. if i had those it would be easy for me. the treatment would be the hardest part but at least when i got back home i wouldnt be isolated or needing to rely on hired supports to help me out if that makes sense. it was more expensive last year because i had to pay for pops supports while i was away too but this year he will be going to respite so in a way its expensive but not as bad as last year. i had to pay a fair in excess for pop but not this year

Re: not coping

At least you have respite so that will also be a weight off your mind @outlander knowing that he is properly looked after.

I don't expect an answer if you aren’t comfortable. What is wrong with your pop?

oh @outlander. That’s so hard.. my nan had dementia. It’s a cruel disease. Her husband cared for her until it was impossible. I really understand the 24hr care required. My respect for you has grown even more.

Re: not coping

Seeing someone with dementia is so hard @outlander @Captain24 , let alone being the the sole carer. It's not easy. I take my hat off to you @outlander .

The confusion they can have is so upsetting sometimes. The care they need becomes more.

When I've worked with people with dementia, I find that it's about just giving them the quality of life in the then and now. Go with what they say. Laugh with them, celebrate with them, cry with them.

At the same time @outlander , you are young. You have your own health conditions. You deserve support.

It gets to the point that you just can’t do it. @outlander. 10 yrs is a long time. You have done very well. You have gone above and beyond.
