Re: not coping

It's especially difficult for a young person who has hardly had the chance to live life. It's like the children who end up as carers for their parents due to illness etc. Of course, it can also foster maturity and resilience in children, but it also means added stress @outlander . These young people need support.

I remember once watching a documentary about different children growing up in very different households. One young boy (he was 3 or 4 years old) was going to have a new baby sibling. The mother was legally blind, the father was not around, and the baby was due soon. This documentary followed this young boy and looked at how at the age of 5, he had to go down the street himself to buy bread. He also had to take his mother across roads, bathe the baby, help with the baby etc. When they did a series of tests on this young boy, the test revealed that this child's resilience was through the roof compared to children his age - no wonder!

It was really amazing to see how upbringing can make or break a child.

Re: not coping

i actually see the differrence in the upbringing even between my siblings and I @tyme theres quite abit of difference between us compared to me who had heaps of responsiility and them who has had a more 'normal' life.

Re: not coping

What's the age gap between you and your siblings? @outlander ? Sorry, I forgot. I remember you saying they were still in school.

Re: not coping

there is 7 yrs between myself and the middle child and 6 years between the middle child and the youngest so quite big age gaps @tyme

Re: not coping

Wow! So you are like 13 years older than the youngest? @outlander - LOL. I hope I haven't put my maths to shame!

The other day, someone asked me how to do a matrix permutation.... far out! I had to relearn it!

Permutation

Re: not coping

Permutation matrices - i think it was trying to work out the combinations of different letters in a word using a binary matrix... lol

I actually like maths - well, the application of it. I wish I was better at it when I was at school. I was a pretty dull student at school. I absolutely don't wish to go back at all. I think it was like a dark cloud was over me when I was school and I didn't wake up until after school. But then, the mental health issues kicked in....

Oh well, it's a hard knock life!

@outlander , Anyway, I gtg. Chat later this week.
