Re: not coping

i have to try and get 10 assignments done in 2 weeks but i just cant. its not long enough so i guess ill be failing the certficiate. i wont be able to renter it because i dont haveenough prequisites when they change them next year.

im not overly concerned about the tests themselves but to be honest id rathem them find something then not. im sick of everything being blamed on my mental health. if i didnt mention mental health then maybe theyd treat me as a normal person

its a tafe course and im not able to defer at this point. i wont meet the prequisites next year as they are changing them. i dnt really want to do this certificate at all and feel forced to do it because of my job role.

Hey @outlander

I'm sitting with you tonight too ❤️

I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling great right now, and that you are stressed for your upcoming tests this week. It can be really consuming especially when you are trying to finish your education, but your mental health can play a part in it too.

Please remember that you are not alone, and that @Former-Member and I are here to chat with you tonight.

Sending you hugs,

Amber22

Re: not coping

@outlander that is SO much! No wonder your feeling anxious about it! I don't think I fully understood before, so sorry about that.

I can hear that the stigma you've experienced at tafe has felt really crap. And that's so fair. And that you're frustrated about the course because you didn't want to do it, but it's changing heaps in 2023. Is that right?

I'm so sorry. I know what I say won't fix it, but I think given everything that's gone one with the course, you've shown so much persistence and determination in getting this far. ❤️

Is there anything you want to do to help ease the feelings this evening?

Re: not coping

I definitely agree with @Former-Member ! That is a lot to deal with all at once. It is both physically and mentally (and emotionally) demanding to get that much done all at once!

One thing that I utilised a lot when I was studying was 'special considerations', where I would provide proof that I was struggling with the work load as it was making me feel very anxious and stressed, and they would either give me an alternative task that would be better suited for me at the time, or an extension on the time it was due.

I also really utilised the on site (or online) counsellor at my university, she was so great at guiding me through what was the best pathway for me.

Also remember that you are human, and that getting that much done is sometimes too much to handle and thats okay!! Look after yourself first, studying will always be available to you, but your mental health should always take priority.

Sending hugs @outlander

Re: not coping

@Former-Member @amber22

i tried to defer a couple of months ago due to struggling with the workload etc but they said if i defer then next year because i dont have the certifiate before the one im doing now id have to do that one and then restart the one im doing now.

i should also clarify when i say tests i mean physical tests like health tests not tafe ones.

the course im doing now requires 2 assignments a week. some of them were over 100 pages long before i even started them!

i have been doing alot of walking. i mean minimum 6 k walks and up to 10ks a day. sometimes its like an addiction i just cant stop. my pent up energy and frustrations get so much better when im out walking

my time away for intense medical treatment is also only jsut over 2 weeks away as well. its going really really fast

Re: not coping

Ah okay I see @outlander

I understand where you are coming from about your TAFE course. It is always worth reaching out to them to discuss your mental health if you haven't already, as they can be quite understanding of it and hopefully give you some special considerations along the way that could help to ease some of the workload, and therefore hopefully your anxiety and stress too.

I'm sorry I misunderstood when you said tests, I thought you meant at TAFE! I am sorry that you have so many physical tests to do. I hope that they are okay for you, I'm sitting with you on this topic because I know it can be a bit tricky for some people (me being one of them!)

That is a lot of assignments due. If you feel up for it, I would really recommend letting them know that the workload is just too much for you at the moment. I hope that there is something that they can do to minimise it (especially if it is impacting your mental health!) They should be accomodating for that.

Thats great to hear that you have a safe way to let off some steam. Walking is a great way to release some energy, but make sure you are also giving your body some time to rest.

You're doing so great, and I hope that you know that you are doing the best that you can in your situation right now with how you are feeling ❤️

Sending hugs,

Re: not coping

I think for the time being just do what you can, and don't be too hard on yourself about it. Please reach out if you need anything, and please look after yourself ❤️
