Re: not coping

Hi @outlander

My name is Sirius, I'm one of the new peer support workers here–nice to meet you 😊. I can hear you've had a hard time today and that your family are adding another layer of complexity on top of it all. I want to acknowledge the strength it takes to reach out for support. If you're open to the suggestion, it might help to reach out to those in your inner circle you feel comfortable talking to (i.e. a trusted friend, a trusted GP or a mental health worker, such as a counsellor).

If you're open to a 1-on-1 chat with a counsellor, the SANE help centre is open from 10am-10pm Mon-Fri and the number is: 1899 187 263. All our counsellors are trained to provide a judgemental and confidential session with the opportunity to explore your challenges and provide strategies for longer term help.

Please go gently with yourself @outlander. 💜

Sirius✨

Re: not coping

the only person who has stayed on my side is mum @Eve7 so now i just wander round or drive around and sit at parks in my spare time for space . hard not having a 'home' to go to. it use to be my home but now its just a house.

forcing myself to relax just doesnt work well for me.
im not to sure why that it is though

Hey @outlander ,

I used to think that too! I'm not sure if it is about forcing yourself to relax. I always thought mindfulness was to help relax you and make you feel sleepy. But supposedly it's not. If anything, it's about making your mind more aware and about directing your attention on something. Perhaps this in turn gives the misconception that it is to 'relax'? Perhaps it makes you not focus on the painful side of things?

I'm not sure. I've still go lots to learn!

thanks @Former-Member nice to meet you
i dont have anyone. those around me just exclude me and its no use talking to anyone anymore because they just hold it against you just as theyre doing right now.
ive never been so out of the loop in my own life as i am right now. theres so many rumours going round about me that im no longer comfortable being at home but i cant afford to move out yet.

Re: not coping

maybe one day @Eve7
hard being here when i dont have a say in anything anymore. i cant really resist to hard because theres already so much conflict. one person cannot fight an entire family so ive given up. i stay away for as much as possible without it affecting pops care. im going to call centrelink tomorrow and find out what the specific requirements would be if i wasnt living here.

Re: not coping

thanks @Eve7 i know several people who have been a carer without living with them so im going to find out this information. i might rent a room or something if i can make my timing work better without being here.

Re: not coping

I’ve known people who were carers without living in too @outlander It’s not a requirement.

Your own home / room would be awesome.
